We have landed in South Africa for the month of August, and one interesting thing to explore is the food. With that in mind we chose a South African snack to make for our cooking activity this month. “Lepelsteeltjies are traditional South African savory-sweet cheese biscuits with a dollop of apricot jam in the center. The name comes from the Afrikaans words for spoon (lepel) and handle (steeltjie), because the end of a wooden spoon handle is used to press a small indent into each ball of dough.” Check out the great work and craftsmanship put into making these biscuits!

If you’ve been meaning to make it out this summer, tonight is a great night to do it. Stop by Field Veterans Memorial Park anytime between 5–8 PM to browse local vendors, grab dinner or a treat, and enjoy live music from Gable Pooley from 6–8 PM.
