I used to think that every minute had to be filled. If I wasn't doing, I was falling behind. But burnout doesn't care about your to-do list. It just takes.
Today I sat for ten minutes. Just ten.
No phone. No podcast. No planning. Just watching the water move and feeling the wood of the dock under me. It felt like a waste for the first three minutes. My brain was screaming about emails and laundry.
Then, it just... stopped.
Rest isn't the reward for finishing your work. It’s the fuel that makes the work possible. Doing nothing for a moment isn't lazy. It’s a strategy. It’s how we find our way back to ourselves when the noise gets too loud.
You don't need a beach. You just need ten minutes to let your brain catch up with your body.
Try it today. Just for ten.
