It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of our beloved mother Patricia Lowen, who departed this life on June 1, 2026. Our mother, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love touched the lives of so many . Details regarding our mother’s memorial service will be shared down below.
The Celebration of life Service will be held on Saturday June 13th, at Chavis Parker Funeral Home in Hillsborough, NC. The address to the funeral home is 405 NC -57 Hillsborough, NC 27278. An initial viewing will be held on Friday June 12th from 11:00am-5:00pm, for any friends and family that would like to stop by. The final viewing will be held on Saturday June 13th at 11:00am, one hour before the initial service. The celebration of life service will be held sharply at 12:00 Noon. Directly following the celebration of life service, will be the burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The address is 6350 NC-86 South Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Marcella "Cell" Poteat 66, departed this earthly life May 14, 2026 in Authora Care in Burlington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Donnell Beasley and Ruth Poteat Chambers.

Survivors are her mother, Ruth Poteat Chambers; daughter, Ashley Poteat; siblings, James Chambers, Brenda Chambers, Carl Chambers, Curdell Chambers (Barbara) and Gloria Pherribo (Ryan); aunt, Katie Evans; uncles, Curtis Poteat, Jackie Poteat (Phyllis), Lee Wesley Poteat (Alfreda), Ulysses Poteat and Calvin Poteat and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Dorothy Alene Bradsher Pettiford, daughter of the late Arthur Bradsher and Lucinda Graves Bradsher, was born August 23, 1936, in Orange County.

She died May 1, 2026, at Alamance Cone Hospital Burlington, NC

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wilford Pettiford. Brothers, Matthew” Pap” Bradsher, John Dewey “JD” Bradsher, and Linwood Bradsher, sisters Annie Mae Bradsher Poole, Gladys Bradsher White.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ann Bradsher, Charlotte Bradsher, and Gail Pettiford, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Chavis Parker Funeral Home. Visitation will be 11:30am, one half hour before service.

Burial will be at Snow Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be on Tuesday from 10am-5pm at Chavis Parker Funeral Home.

Salvadore Demarko Haines 63, departed this earthly life April 27, 2026. He was the son of the late Clarence Haines and the late Arcessia Jones Haines.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Antonia Haines and sister, Felecia Haines McQuag.

Survivors are wife, Teresa Haines; children, Salvadore Gillis, Randy Gillis, Tynisha White, Talisha Haines and Christopher Haines; grandchildren, Tyshiona Haines, Randae Gillis, Krislynn Currie, Major Haines, Clayton Hodo, Rai’Lund Gillis, Rai’ahn Gillis; great-grandchildren, Summer Carter and Rahmiyi Caldwell; siblings, Mayavine Ferguson, James Hill, Michael Haines (Tina), Ursula Woodward and Marie Flemister; mother-in-law, Mary White; brothers-in-law, Clifford Whitfield and Gary White; sisters-in-law, Tina Haines, Cathy Whitfield and Shawnquetta White and a host of other relatives and friends.

Johnson, was born April 20,1953 in Alamance County.

He died April 25, 2026 in Signature Health , Chapel Hill, NC.

Survivors are sons; Nathan Johnson (Legina) and Kevin Breeze (special Friend Kelly) ,sister Mary McMillan (Jimmy), brother Percy Johnson, one brother-in-law, John Walton, one sister-in-law Carolyn Torian, one uncle Joe Johnson Sr., six grandchildren, five great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 12:00pm on Saturday at Chavis-Parker Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before service.

Survivors are daughters , Marie Williams (Ike) and Frances Covington, sons: Dewey Wandell Pettiford, Andre Pettiford and Mercell Harrelson, sisters : Ruthie Mae Miles, Mary Gant, brother: Robert Pettiford (Emma) ,grandchildren: Sharina Covington, Vone McPherson Jr., Darrel Harrelson, Tracey Harrelson, Sonja Harrelson, LaShawn Ellison, Shilow Pettiford, Martiva Pettiford, Shartiva Pettiford, Shanina Pettiford, Erica Pettiford ,Cedric Watson, Ken Williams, Antonio Pettiford, Derick Woods, Christy Ray and Marketa Pettiford.

Bernita Regina Torain was born March 20, 1981 to the late Geary Owens and Roberta Scott Pay. God later blessed Rev. Ronnie and Rev. Sharkita Torain to nurture and to parent Bernita. She peacefully departed this earthly life April 1, 2026, in Duke Hock Family Pavilion.

Survivors are her parents, Rev. Ronnie Torain and Rev. Sharkita Torain; children, Isaiah and Jasmine Torain; siblings, Jacquelyn Owens, Paulette Exum (Ron), Lamont Torain (Attalah) and Brittany Torain; two God brothers, Nicholas (Roslyn) and Mark Barrios, and one God sister, Frannie Easterling, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory his partner, Vanessa Coleman; three sisters, Martha Johnson, Vicki Johnson, and Rebecca Compton; four brothers, Dennis Crocker, Wayne Crocker (Shirley), David Crocker (Sue), and Vincent Crocker (Angela); two uncles, Edward Clark and Dee Climit Clark (Marie); two aunts, Margaret Clark and Hattie Pearl Clark and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
