The neighborhood pharmacy wasn't just where you picked up your prescription. It was where you got your film developed, bought your greeting cards, picked up a Timex watch for Father's Day, and stood at the counter for ten minutes talking about how your knee had been bothering you.

He'd fill your prescription and then lean over the counter and tell you exactly how to take it — not because he had to, but because that's what he did. He was the pharmacist. He knew things. And he was always right. 🩺

The neighborhood pharmacist was one of the great quiet anchors of American community life. And most of them are gone now — replaced by a drive-through window and an automated phone call. 💙
