When someone we love is going through a devastating loss, it is completely normal to feel helpless. We often want to say or do the perfect thing, but the truth is that your quiet presence matters more than perfect words. ❤️

Instead of asking how you can help, try shifting to concrete actions. Drop off a meal on the porch, take out their trash, or run a quick errand. Small, practical actions relieve the overwhelming burden of decision-making during deep grief.

Let's remember to show up for our friends not just today, but in the long weeks and months ahead when the initial support fades. 🌟

Today is National Grief Awareness Day. Grief is a deeply personal journey, and there is no "right" way to navigate it. Sometimes the best thing we can do is simply be there for one another, without judgment or expectations.

Take a moment today to check in on a friend who has experienced loss, or give yourself permission to feel whatever is in your heart. We are all walking each other home. 🤍

Today we pause to remember the beautiful, unconditional love of the pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

They may no longer be by our side, but their paw prints are permanently left on our hearts. 🐾🌈

In honor of one of the world’s most treasured icons, Dolly Parton, beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author, Carter Funeral Home invites everyone who loved and admired Dolly as much as we did to stop by and sign their name in a special register book in her memory. The book will be available to sign through September 5th, and visitors are welcome Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Afterward, we will mail the register book to the Imagination Library in Sevierville, Tennessee, as a heartfelt tribute from our community. Rest in peace, Dolly.

Losing someone far from home adds complexity to an already painful journey.

If you're navigating arrangements across state or international lines, know this: you're not alone, and it's manageable.

We've created a free guide to walk you through exactly what to expect. 💙

When a loved one passes away far from home, arranging their return requires coordinating between two funeral homes—one where they passed and one near where services will be held—a process that experienced funeral directors handle routinely to spare families the logistical burden during grief. Being in hospice care sounds very similar to being in the hospital to most people. If you have not had a personal experience with hospice care, or know someone who has, you may not be aware of the difference.
