Somewhere between the supply list and the carpool signup, your own feelings about the school year got skipped.
Maybe it's relief, and a little guilt about the relief. Maybe it's grief that they're another year older and the summers are countable now. Maybe it's dread about homework battles, or the strange loneliness of a quieter house at 9am. All of it can be true at once, sometimes in the same hour.
Parents absorb every transition their kids go through, plus their own. August asks a lot of you, and almost nobody asks how you're doing with it.
So we're asking. During National Wellness Month, consider this your reminder that your mental health is part of the family's wellness too. You're allowed to get support that's just for you. Not for parenting strategy. For you.
Tell us honestly: which August feeling is loudest for you right now? Relief, grief, dread, excitement, all of the above? The comments are a safe place to say it out loud.
