Summer is here. And it's not all sidewalk chalk and slow mornings.
Teachers are still decompressing from a year that asked too much of them. They're not "off." They're recovering.
Parents are staring down 10 weeks of "I'm bored" with no plan, not enough childcare, and the pressure to make every week feel like a vacation.
Kids who held it together at school all year are finally falling apart at home, where they feel safe enough to. Their meltdowns aren't about you. They're about everything they couldn't release until they got home.
Teens are navigating empty days, social anxiety about who's hanging out without them, and the strange grief of another school year ending.
And you're somewhere in the middle, trying to make summer "fun" while running on fumes.
Summer brings space. It also brings noise, mess, sibling fighting, and 8 a.m. wake-ups when you were hoping for just one slow morning.
If you're tired, overstimulated, or quietly dreading the next ten weeks of unstructured time, you're not failing at summer. You're human.
We're here for the whole messy season.

You learned to swallow it. Push it down. Keep going.
Maybe your dad never cried in front of you. Maybe your friends don't talk about anything real, and you wouldn't even know how to start. Maybe you've never had a single person ask "How are you actually doing?" and wait for the honest answer.
So you handle it. You always have. The stress, the grief, the anger, the loneliness you're not supposed to feel. The exhaustion of being everyone's rock. You shove it into a corner and get back to work.
But it doesn't disappear. It shows up as exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch. As a temper that scares you. As distance from the people you love. As a heaviness in your chest you can't explain. As drinking a little more than you used to. As checking out when your kids are talking to you.
You're not broken. You're not weak. You're just carrying something that was never meant to be carried alone.
You don't have to keep doing this. You were never supposed to.
If you're struggling, here are some places to start:

Everyone keeps talking about "spring energy." You're just trying to get through the day.

Flowers are blooming. Sun's out longer. Your feed is full of people "spring cleaning" their lives and setting goals.

And you? Still tired. Still dragging. Wondering why everyone else flipped a switch while you're stuck in the same fog since February.

Here's what no one tells you: Your body doesn't operate on a seasonal calendar. Just because it's warmer doesn't mean your brain chemistry magically recalibrates. Longer days don't automatically bring more energy.

If you're still feeling: Exhaustion that won't lift. Motivation that never kicks in. Guilt for not feeling "better" now that spring is here.

You're not broken. You're not failing at spring. Your nervous system is catching up.

What might help: Get outside when you can. Not because you should, but because light helps. Stop comparing your energy to others'. You don't know what they're dealing with. Let go of the idea that spring means restarting everything. Ask for help if you need it—from a friend, partner, or therapist.

Spring isn't a deadline for feeling better. It's just March turning into April. You're allowed to still be adjusting.

If the heaviness isn't lifting and you're tired of pretending you're fine, we're here.

Has anyone told you lately that they're proud of you?

Because they should. You're doing more than you think you are.

You're showing up even when it's hard. You're trying even when you're exhausted. You're holding it together even when it feels like you're barely getting by. You're managing more than most people see—work, family, responsibilities, and the invisible weight of just keeping everything going.

You don't always have 100% to give. Some days you're running on 50%, and that's okay. If 50% is all you have today and you're giving 50%, you're not failing. You're doing exactly what you can with what you have.

That's more than enough.

So here it is: We're proud of you. For getting through the hard days. For asking for help when you need it. For setting boundaries even when it's uncomfortable. For still being here, still trying, still showing up—even when no one's watching or acknowledging it.

You're doing great. Even when it doesn't feel like it. Even when no one's telling you. We see you, and you're doing more than enough.

Your teen finally agreed to therapy. You should feel relieved. So why do you also feel guilty?

Because part of you wonders if you're the reason they need it.

You replay every argument. Every time you lost patience. Every distracted moment. You wonder what the therapist thinks when your kid talks about home.

The truth: Watching your kid get help brings up complicated feelings. Relief they're talking to someone. Guilt they need to. Fear therapy will reveal all the ways you messed up.

And sometimes it gets harder first. Your teen sets new boundaries. They call you out. They're learning to use their voice, which means speaking up about hard stuff—including family dynamics.

That feels like they're pulling away. Or like therapy is turning them against you. But they're not. They're growing. Figuring out who they are separate from you. And yes, that's uncomfortable.

What helps: Let go of the idea that good parents raise kids who don't need therapy. Life is hard. Some kids need support. Trust the process even when it's messy. Teen pushback isn't rejection—it's growth. Ask about parent sessions for guidance. Take care of yourself too. Watching your kid struggle is one of the hardest parts of parenting.

The guilt means you care. But caring doesn't mean you caused this. Getting your teen help isn't failure—it's love.

If your teen is in therapy and you're struggling with what that brings up, parent support is part of what we do.

Your body keeps the score. Even when your mind tries to move on.

Stress gives you headaches. Anxiety messes with your stomach. Depression makes your whole body feel heavy.

That's not a coincidence. Your mind and body aren't separate. They're constantly talking to each other. When one struggles, the other feels it.

Your body remembers what your mind goes through. Even when you think you've dealt with it, your nervous system is still holding on.

What helps: Move in ways that feel good, not punishing. Walk to clear your head, not burn calories. Drink water—your brain is 73% water, and dehydration affects mood and focus before you feel thirsty. Sleep like it matters, because it does. Your brain processes stress and regulates emotions while you sleep. Talk about what you're carrying. Holding it inside makes your body work overtime. Eat without guilt. Nourishment isn't just nutrition—it's not treating food like something you earn.

Taking care of your mental health is taking care of your physical health. They're not separate. If you're struggling to find balance, therapy can help.

Insurance update: Authentic Growth Wellness Group remains in-network with BCBS PPO and BlueChoice PPO. We're no longer in-network with Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare.

Why? Insurance companies cut mental health reimbursement while increasing admin demands and denials. This change protects care quality and lets us focus on you, not paperwork.

What this means:

BCBS PPO or BlueChoice PPO? Nothing changes.

Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare? Continue as private-pay or use out-of-network benefits. We provide superbills and help with reimbursement.

We've partnered with Mentaya to handle reimbursement paperwork—they submit claims, deal with insurance, get you reimbursed for a small fee.

Questions? We're here to help.
