Happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

Today marks a remarkable milestone—250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

As we celebrate this historic anniversary, I'm reminded that freedom is more than something we inherit. It's something we choose to live every day—in the way we move, the way we care for one another, and the way we continue to grow.
Here at InnerJasmine, summer is our Season of Movement. While our studio is quiet today, the invitation to move continues. Take a walk. Jump in the lake. Play with your kids. Hike a new trail. Dance in the kitchen. Sit quietly and breathe beneath the evening fireworks.

Whatever fills your heart today, I hope you find gratitude for the journey that brought us here, appreciation for those who came before us, and hope for the generations still to come.

Wishing you a joyful, safe, and meaningful Independence Day. Happy 250th, America! 🇺🇸

I remember the last time I really wrestled with this question.

I was 28 years old and had spent years injuring my hip over and over again. Each injury forced me to step away from dance for a while, only to return and repeat the cycle. Then came the injury that wouldn’t allow impact for nearly a year—a reality that forced me to confront something I wasn’t ready to face.

Dance wasn’t just something I did. It was who I was.

At the time, it felt like everything I knew about myself was being taken away. Looking back, I wonder if life had been whispering to me for years before it finally dropped a boulder in the middle of the road.

This week’s Body After Impact reflection, The Boulder in the Road, explores a question that continues to fascinate me:

When life places an obstacle in our path, how do we know whether we’re meant to push through it, walk around it, or choose an entirely different direction?

As we approach the Summer Solstice—a season of light, transition, and turning points—I invite you into the conversation.

Some obstacles ask us to grow stronger. Others ask us to change direction. As the Summer Solstice invites us into a season of greater light, this reflection explores the challenge of discerning whether life's resistance is a test of commitment, a call to realignment, or something more nuanced entire...

One of the things I've been most excited about lately is that I've finally been able to start knotting malas again for the first time since my accident.

It's not as easy as it once was, and I definitely can't knot 108 beads in under an hour anymore. But this week I was able to knot 10.

And honestly, that's a really good start.

I'm slowly working on finishing a few custom malas that have been waiting patiently for me, and each knot feels like another step forward in the healing process.

If you've ever considered a custom mala, now is a wonderful time. Every mala I create is thoughtfully curated specifically for you—your intentions, your season of life, your story, and the stones that best support that journey. No two are exactly alike. (Unless, of course, you fall in love with one of the seasonal limited-edition collections.)

It feels good to have April Showers back in my hands again. 💜

What if mindfulness, movement, nourishment, and restoration were never separate destinations, but companions walking beside us through every season of life? This reflection explores cycles, change, and the wisdom found in learning to trust the circle rather than chase the finish line.

Today, we pause.

Not only for the long weekend or the unofficial beginning of summer — but to remember. To honor. To reflect on the lives carried in service, sacrifice, courage, and love.

At InnerJasmine, we often speak about presence.About slowing down enough to truly feel the moment we are in.
Memorial Day invites us into that practice.

To hold gratitude for those who gave their lives in service to others. To recognize the families, stories, and generations forever shaped by that sacrifice. And to remember that peace, freedom, and community are never things we simply inherit without cost.

As we move into the Season of Movement, may we do so with intention.May we move not from urgency — but from appreciation.May we carry forward kindness, compassion, and care for one another.

Today, we honor.Today, we remember.Today, we practice gratitude.

Soft return. Quiet beginnings.

I still can’t knot yet. My hands aren’t fully back there. But sitting at the bead board again — choosing stones, laying out colors, beginning the patterns — reminded me how much I’ve missed this part of myself.

So for now, I’m starting where I can.Bracelets first.Simple strands.Small steps back into creating.

Healing is humbling sometimes. There are seasons where you move with ease… and seasons where even returning to something you love takes patience.

But I’m excited for the day my hands are strong enough to fully begin again. To knot.To create malas from start to finish. To sit for hours in that quiet meditative rhythm I once knew so well.

Until then, this is enough. One bead at a time. 🤍

We added something new to InnerJasmine that has already become a sweet little gathering spot — our Community Puzzle Board in the living room area.

If you arrive early for class, you might find someone working on the puzzle, adding a few pieces, or simply pausing for a quiet moment before practice.

Our newest puzzle just arrived for spring — a beautiful succulent garden, a lovely transition from winter’s season of Restoration into spring’s invitation toward Mindfulness.

A special thank you to Michelle for bringing this puzzle to the studio!

If you have puzzles at home you’d like to share with InnerJasmine, we would love to keep this tradition going. Each time one is completed, we’ll start another — ideally connected to the seasons of our practice:

• Spring — Mindfulness
• Summer — Movement
• Fall — Nourishment
• Winter — Rest

Little by little, piece by piece — just like practice — the picture comes together.

Age Is Truly Just a Number

There is something powerful about watching someone discover their strength later in life.

My mama, Valentina, didn’t grow up “working out.”
She played recreational volleyball.
She swam in Lake Michigan with her friends.
Movement was joy — not a structured practice.

Yoga didn’t enter her life until 3–4 years ago.

Once a week.
With breaks.
Then twice a week.
Then slowly, something shifted.

Through two hip replacements, she kept showing up.
Not to prove anything.
Not to compete.
But to feel better.

Today, she not only takes Aging With Grace — she joins regular group classes.
And yes… she is absolutely crushing it.

The photo you’re seeing? Reverse Staff Pose.
Strength. Openness. Confidence. Fire.

Here’s what she’s taught me:

✨ Age is not a limitation — it’s perspective.
✨ Strength can be built at any stage of life.
✨ Consistency beats intensity.
✨ The body responds when we treat it with patience and respect.

At InnerJasmine, energy isn’t about being the youngest in the room.
It’s about being willing.

Willing to try.
Willing to grow.
Willing to believe that your body is still capable.

Mama, you inspire me more than you know. 🥰😘

To anyone wondering if it’s “too late” to start —
It isn’t.

Energy doesn’t expire.
It evolves.
