Sometimes, what a mom needs most isn’t another person telling her what to do… it’s someone who believes in her.

Feeding your baby can come with so many emotions...joy, love, worry, frustration, exhaustion, and sometimes even doubt in yourself.

As an IBCLC, I get to meet moms in those moments and remind them: you are not failing. You are learning.

My job isn’t to decide how you should feed your baby. It’s to listen to your goals, understand your unique situation, provide evidence-based guidance, and help you feel confident making the choices that are right for you and your family.

Maybe that means breastfeeding.
Maybe it means pumping.
Maybe it means combination feeding.
Maybe your plan changes along the way.🙏🏾

If you’re an IBCLC, you already know the drill: every 5 years, we have to recertify. And those 5 years are NOT just sitting around collecting dust. We’re tracking continuing education, staying current with research and best practices, working, learning, and putting in the hours to make sure we’re continuing to provide evidence-based care. 📚🍼

So when it’s finally time to submit everything, you expect THE EMAIL. 📧

You know the one.

“CONGRATULATIONS! You have successfully recertified for another 5 years!” 🎉🎊🥳

Except…

…I got NO EMAIL. 😂

So naturally, I wait several days... I checked the portal...
And there it was.

Updated recertification date.
No confetti.
No fireworks.
No marching band.

Just… a new date. 😂😂😂

Well, PRAISE GOD, IT’S DONE! 🙌🏽

So if you’ve ever waited FOREVER for good news and then finally got it only to think, “Oh… that’s it?” I SEE YOU. 😂
