James Phillip Keith, affectionately known as JP or "CAB Jim," passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on January 3, 1943, in Morganfield, Kentucky, JP was the beloved son of James Otis Keith and Ruby Maxine Keith.

JP is preceded in death by his brother, Otis Ray Keith, and Charles David Keith. He is survived by his brother, William Eugene Keith, and his devoted wife, Shirley Catherine Cordle Keith, whom he married on October 1, 2016, in Hodgenville, Kentucky.

A proud graduate of LaRue County High School, Class of 1962, JP went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Following his service, he built a successful career as an airline mechanic at UPS, dedicating 22 years of skilled craftsmanship to the industry. A man of faith and devotion, JP was an active member of Steadfast Baptist Church and a former member of the Buffalo Lion’s Club. In his free time, he found joy in building and flying RC airplanes, a passion that reflected his meticulous attention to detail and love for exploration.

JP’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Jennifer Marie Langley (Mark) and their son Levi; Amanda Kaye Gast (Kevin); and Amy Lynn Antony (Jason) and their daughter Riley Hollis. He is also survived by his beloved Aunt, Nancy Lawson, and cherished family caretaker, Fran Hatcher. He also leaves behind step-children Tammy Blosser and her son Cody, grandson Hunter; Tina Eden; Aaron Cordle (Babette); and Dalton Cordle (Ashley), along with Dalton’s children Karleigh, Brantlee, Jayce, and Westlyn.

JP will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his faith, and his favorite sayings, like, “You’ll never know it in 100 years” and “If I’d have known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself,” quoting Dick Van D**e..

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 14, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Bros. Rodney Troutman, Glen Chasteine and Craig Astor are officiating. Military honors will follow the service. (Cremation will follow )

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (or any organization of their choice), these donations may be made at the funeral home.

Arthur Devers, age 74, of Gleanings, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, on his farm, after a farming accident.

He was a lifelong member and deacon at Salem Christian Church; owner and operator of Devers Steel Erectors, a lifelong farmer and avid arrowhead hunter.

Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Neicey Devers; his parents, Daniel and Levada Thompson Devers; two brothers, Nathan and Larry Devers; a sister, Pamela Hennessy; a brother-in-law, Allen O’Daniel and a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Devers.

He is survived by three children, Tonya Devers (Stephen) Hawkins, Kelly Devers (Gary) Drake and Ben (Stephanie Spalding) Devers; a brother, Danny Dale Devers; two sisters, Surena O’Daniel and Marcella (Barry) Price; seven grandchildren, Taylor Aubrey, Emma-Grace (Tyler) Puckett, Erynn Reynolds Henry, Tanner Reynolds, Jacob Thomas Gilpin, Addie Resse Devers and Ella Paige Devers; a great-grandson, Killian Arthur Henry and a great-granddaughter, Scottie Grace Puckett.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, at Salem Christian Church with Bro. Sid Lewis officiating.

Memorial visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Donna Aikin Wells, age 83, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
She was a homemaker who loved playing a part in raising her children and great grandchildren. In her younger days, she had a few jobs but her favorite was working alongside her husband in their shoe repair business in Hodgenville.
Donna was preceded her husbands, Donald Lloyd House and Leslie Wells; her parents, Edward and Clara Aikin; a grandson, Nathan House; and a sister, Janet Berry.
She was the proud mother of David (Brenda) House, Belinda (Gary) Burd, Donald (Diane) House and Gina (Paul) Gibbons. She leaves behind a large legacy of 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Radcliff; a brother, Ronnie (Connie) Aikin and three special friends, Hope, Nickii and Linda.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 16, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Johnny Ray Meredith, age 62, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Nortons Hospital in Louisville.
He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church where he attended every Sunday and the owner and operator of ball hallow Backhoe service. He enjoyed fixing up classic cars, was an avid deer hunter and loved his horses. He will be remembered as the life of the party and a loyal friend. More than anything he loved his family dearly.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny “Jack” and Julia Ann Butler Meredith; a brother, Randall Meredith and two sisters, Vona Smith and Michelle Farris.

William “Smitty” Smith, age 96, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his residence.

He loved jazz music, singing and dancing and University of Louisville Basketball. He will be remembered as a people person and for his time at Papa Johns where he enjoyed visiting with many people within the community where he undoubtedly left a lasting impression.

“Smitty” was preceded in death by a daughter, Leora English; two grandchildren, Royce Robinson Jr. and Whitney English; his parents, Walker and Lovie Dixon Smith’ a sister, Lovie Elaine Smith and three brothers, R.B. Smith, Jospeh B. Smith and Wallace Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Rae Cobb Smith; two daughters, Tanya (Royce) Smith Robinson and Valerie (Sylvester) Spencer all of Louisville; a son, Terry Lynn Smith of Louisville; three sisters, Mary A. Smith of Hodgenville, Janie Dorsey-Thompson of Hodgenville, Emogen Thomas of Louisville; two brothers, Joe Louis Smith of Louisville, Kerry Smith of Hodgenville; four grandchildren, LaQuona Floyd, Toni Floyd, Courtney Smith, Jordan Spencer; a host of great and great great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, at First Missionary Baptist Church of Hodgenville, 404 South Lincoln Blvd. with Bro. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow in Hubbard Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church.

A repast will be held at American Legion post #87 in Hodgenville after the services. The doors will be open at 9 a.m. Thursday to drop off any dishes.

Bill E Bland, age 80, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Baptist Health in Louisville.

He was born, October 7, 1945 to James and Ella Bland.

Bill was a Vietnam veteran, he owned and operated Bland’s Insulation until his retirement in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Jerry Bland.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Pawley Bland; three daughters, Laresha Bland (Brian Heath), Chaundra Bland-Brooks (Scott) Brooks and Kacenda Bland (Jake Elliott); six grandchildren, Ezra Brooks, Julian Brooks, Soren Brooks, Celia Bland-Heath, Eliza Bland-Elliott and Asa Bland-Elliott; three sisters, Martha Bogard, Barbara Routt and Judy Minton; a brother, David Bland and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.

Sherry Diane Marcum, age 65, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Baptist Health Louisville.

A loving mother, friend and strong Christian woman, she was a member of Ovesen Heights Baptist Church and loved to worship the Lord anywhere she could, especially the former Kingdom Life Church in Elizabethtown. Sherry lived life to the fullest, was up for any adventure and adored and supported her grandkids, playing any game with them they wanted to and attending their soccer and football games.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Lonnie Meredith on November 13, 1969 and her stepdad, Norman D. Copley on October 1, 2005.

Sherry is survived by three children, Chasidy McDowell, Andrew Marcum and Angelina (Josh) Pickerell; her mother, Phyllis Copley; three grandchildren, Noah Rucker, Jonah Pickerell and Elyannah Pickerell; six siblings, Charlotte (Junior) Bingham, Shelia (Donald) Pawley, Susie (Brad) Evans, Donovan (Trista) Copley, David (Rhonda) Copley and Dennis (Shereese) Copley as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Merrill Kurtz and Pastor Raynard Romero officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.

Ralph Macarthur “Mac” Trumbo, age 83, of Roanoke, passed away, Monday, July 13, 2026, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.

Mac was a member of the ROCK church, Gideons International, founding member of Roanoke House of Prayer and loved volunteering at Sunrise Manor, doing so for nearly 50 years. He retired as LaRue County Jailer, serving from 1990 to 2010 and served in jail ministry for many years; was a plumber and often bragged about plumbing The Galt House in Louisville and ran Roanoke Food Mart out of his basement for many years. Mac was a proud arm wrestler, boxer and National Champion rail-splitter, holding a record for rail-splitting time.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia “Cookie” Trumbo; his parents, Benjamin Harrison Trumbo, Sr. and Rosa Mae LaFollette Trumbo; a great-granddaughter, Everly Praise Konsavage; nine siblings and a son in law, Frank Vaughn.

Mac is survived by five children, Rhonda Vaughn, Kim (Joe) Jefferson, Matt (Tamra) Trumbo, Daniel Trumbo and Laura (P.J.) Bauer; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel (Shelby) Rosenbarger, Kim (Nick) Garratt, Joshua Jefferson, Alexia (Noah) Konsavage, Luke Trumbo, Whitney Bauer, Allison Bauer and Lindsey Bauer; two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Diane (Gene) Bertram; a brother, George Trumbo and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Billy Curle and Pastor James Cole officiating. Burial will follow next to his wife in Roanoke Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
