3 non-negotiable rules for my desk setup:

1. Monitor at eye level. If you look down, you are actively compressing your neck.

2. Feet flat on the floor. Crossing your legs rotates your pelvis and destroys your lower back.

3. Elbows at 90 degrees. No reaching forward for the keyboard.

The weekend stiffness that shows up Monday morning is one of the most misread signals in the body.

Most patients assume Monday itself is the problem. The alarm. The commute. The first meeting. The transition back into the week.

They blame the day for what their body is feeling and they wait for Tuesday or Wednesday to feel like themselves again.

The day did not do this. The forty-eight hours before it did.

This is the part nobody connects. The couch on Saturday.

The lying in bed an extra two hours Sunday morning.

The dinner you ate on the floor with your back against the couch because you did not feel like sitting at the table.

The four hours of TV at one angle. The phone scrolling at another angle. The whole weekend in a small handful of positions.

Your body did exactly what you trained it to do. It locked into the shapes you gave it the most.

By Monday morning, the muscles that hold you in those positions are tight. The ones that should be balancing them have been off duty for two days.

The joints have not moved through their full range since Friday.

If you drop your hydration, shift your sleep schedule by 3 hours, and sit in compressive postures all weekend, Monday is going to hurt.
