Dru, one of our outstanding student employees, has been busy this summer making Smart Home demonstration videos!

Each video features a different Smart Home assistive technology (AT) device and how the device could benefit the user. Some of the AT demonstrated in these videos are available for Device Loans; other AT is only available for demonstration purposes. To watch any of our Smart Home AT videos, check out our Smart Home Assistive Technology for Independent Living YouTube playlist at https://bit.ly/4gNyOmf.

🎓 IEP Fact Friday 🎓

💡 Fact: An IEP includes more than just academic goals.

Depending on a student’s individual needs, an IEP may include goals related to communication, behavior, social skills, daily living skills, organization, or other areas that help the student make meaningful progress in school.

Every IEP is individualized because every child learns differently.

💙 An effective IEP focuses on the whole child not just grades.

📚 Parent Rights Wednesday

Did You Know?

Parents have the right to give or refuse consent before the school conducts an initial evaluation or provides special education services for the first time.

Consent means:
✅ You receive information about what is being proposed.
✅ You have the opportunity to ask questions.
✅ You can agree or decline before the school moves forward.

Understanding your consent rights helps ensure you’re an informed partner in every important decision regarding your child’s education.

💙 Have questions about your rights? The Oklahoma Parents Center is here to help every step of the way.
