Most physicians are trained to look only in specific places for the answers, using the same familiar labs or diagnostic tests, however, many causes of illness are not commonly found in these places. The usual tests do not look for food sensitivities, hidden infections, environmental toxins, mold exposures, nutritional deficiencies, dysbiosis, intestinal permeability, and metabolic imbalances. Dr. Jurgelewicz uses a variety of specialty laboratory testing to help patients find answers to the cause of their symptoms and identify nutritional and biochemical imbalances that may be negatively contributing to their health. He uses diet, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations to address the underlying dysfunction. Dr. Jurgelewicz starting seeing patients using functional medicine in 2007. Each person’s biochemical individuality exerts a major influence on his or her health. The level of nutrient intake that maintains the best possible health is highly variable from person to person. Lifestyle choices and environmental exposures filtered through genetic predisposition are fundamental factors in the expression of disease, and a successful treatment approach must include investigation into these factors. His passion for Functional Medicine has led to an exciting educational journey from some of the best minds in this field of functional medicine. It was an honor to speak at the 38th Annual Chiropractic Internists Symposium this weekend in Providence, Rhode Island!

My presentation was, "Annatto: Two Compounds Essential in Aging with Case Studies & Research Update." It was rewarding to present the findings from my recently published clinical research in the Integrative Medicine: A Clinician's Journal (IMCJ).

It was also great to connect with the Designs for Health team and reconnect with colleagues.

I’m excited to share that the study I conducted last year was recently published in the April/May issue of Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal (IMCJ):

The Effects of Geranylgeraniol Supplementation on Testosterone in Middle-Aged Healthy Adults: An 18-Week, Single-Group Crossover Placebo-Controlled Trial

Link: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/42222203/

These results highlight GG as a promising natural strategy to support endogenous testosterone production in men and CoQ10 homeostasis in age-related declines.

A special thank you to everyone who participated in the study, the faculty and mentors at Parker University, my co-authors, and the many colleagues who supported this journey.

Recently, I made a gluten-free banana bread using Allulose Complex Powder from Designs for Health and it turned out great!

As healthcare practitioners continue to look for strategies to help patients reduce added sugar intake, ingredients such as allulose offer an exciting alternative. Allulose is a rare sugar that provides the taste and functionality of sugar while having minimal impact on glucose and insulin levels compared to traditional sweeteners but most importantly it also mitigates the postprandial glucose spike.

I recently had the opportunity to undergo a Prenuvo whole-body MRI scan, and I wanted to share my experience. Before recommending a service to patients, I believe it is important to personally experience the process.

As a functional medicine practitioner, I am always looking for tools that support a proactive approach to health and wellness. The Prenuvo scan was comfortable, non-invasive, and provided a comprehensive look at my health from head to ankle without radiation exposure.

While no test can replace regular medical care or detect every condition, advanced imaging can provide valuable information that may help identify potential concerns before symptoms develop.

The information from a Prenuvo scan can be integrated with functional medicine testing, lifestyle assessments, and personalized health strategies to provide a more complete picture of your health.

If you have been curious about whole-body MRI screening and would like to learn whether it may be right for you, feel free to reach out.
