Ottawa County residents now have access to Mobile Crisis Response 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service provides confidential support at no out-of-pocket cost throughout the county.
Mobile crisis responders help people through many kinds of difficult situations. These may include growing stress, family conflict, concerns about alcohol or drug use, thoughts of su***de, or questions about where to find mental health care.
Many crises begin quietly, before they become emergencies. Residents can call to talk through what is happening, learn about available options, and decide what kind of support may be helpful. A crisis professional will listen, answer questions, and help identify possible next steps. Calling does not automatically result in a home visit.
When meeting in person would help, crisis responders can come to a person’s home or another safe community location. They provide a calm, supportive presence, help ease distress, and support difficult conversations. They can also help create a short-term plan and connect people with community resources, treatment providers, or urgent care when needed.
Mobile Crisis Response is available to Ottawa County residents of all ages, regardless of insurance coverage or whether they already receive behavioral health services. The service is operated by Community Mental Health of Ottawa County.
“You don’t have to wait for a difficult situation to become overwhelming before reaching out,” said Tim Piers, Director of Crisis Services. “Early support can help people regain stability, understand their options, and prevent an emergency. Sometimes a compassionate listener and clear options can make all the difference during a difficult moment.”
