As I sit here today and reflect on the past year, it’s hard not to get a little emotional.
When we officially opened our doors exactly one year ago today, I had a vision for what I wanted this office to bring to our community.
I wanted to help seniors stay safely and comfortably at home. I wanted to be a resource for families who didn’t know where to start. I wanted to build a strong management team that could lead and support an incredible team of caregivers. And I wanted caregivers who didn’t just show up for a shift, but truly cared, went above and beyond, and had fun doing what they do.
I’m so happy to say that we’ve accomplished those things but we aren’t finished yet. I hope that Cornerstone Caregiving continues to grow, not just in numbers, but in our learning, leadership, and ability to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.
To our clients: Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and trusting us to care for you or your loved ones. That trust means more than you know. We hope we’ve exceeded your expectations and maybe even changed your perspective on what home care can and should be.
To my management team: I truly can’t thank you both enough. You stepped into an already-growing office, inherited an existing client and caregiver base, learned quickly, and somehow manage to not bother me too much. 😂 I’m so grateful for the hard work, long hours, laughs, problem-solving, and all the times you’ve found a way to make things work. I couldn’t do this without you.
To our caregivers: I try my best to pass along every positive comment I hear from our clients, but I know some probably get missed. Nothing makes me more proud than hearing that a client loves their caregiver, looks forward to their visits, and feels genuinely better having them in their home. You all have some of the biggest hearts. Your willingness to step in, cover shifts, handle difficult situations, and be there for people when they need it most does not go unnoticed. We appreciate you, your dedication, and everything you do. I hope that through our events, challenges, and little things we do throughout the year, we can make you feel just as appreciated as you deserve to be.
To our community and referral partners: Thank you for welcoming me and Cornerstone Caregiving with open arms. There truly is something special about this community. Every person we work with wants to help, wants to do the right thing, and genuinely cares about the people we serve. Thank you for taking a chance on us when I said, “We mean what we say.” I’m so grateful that, one year later, you know that we do.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the Cornerstone Caregiving journey so far. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, and even more excited for what’s ahead. Our office is now full (maybe a little too full) and so is my heart.
