LaQueta Pike was born June 23, 1952, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Bennie J. and Lavada Defoor. She passed away on August 16, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas, at the age of 74. LaQueta was raised in Hollis, where she graduated from Arnett High School. After graduation, she attended cosmetology school and worked in Hollis for several years before relocating to Amarillo, Texas. In Amarillo, LaQueta began a long career with Grandy's, where she eventually became a manager and helped open new restaurant locations in the area. She was especially known for her cinnamon rolls. After several years, she and her husband, Scylan (Scott) Pike, moved to Kentucky to be near his family. Following their time in Kentucky, LaQueta transitioned into home healthcare work in the Dallas area, where her compassion and caregiving nature was evident. LaQueta eventually returned to Hollis, where she lived for approximately 27 years. Hollis remained the place she always called home, surrounded by family, friends, and lifelong memories. In her final years, she moved to San Angelo, Texas, to be cared for by her loving sister, Kay. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie J. and Lavada Defoor, and her nephew, Sam Defoor of Hollis. LaQueta's greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind. She is survived by her son, Michael McAlister of Hollis; three granddaughters, Marilyn, Karlie Garrett (and husband Gunner), and Maddie McAlister; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Kay Rollins (and husband Dale) of San Angelo, Texas, and her brother, Keven Defoor (and wife Barbara) of Hollis. LaQueta also leaves behind two nieces, Krissa Rollins and Sarah Shotts (Defoor); one nephew, Travis Rollins (and wife Kresta), and six great-nieces and great-nephews, along with five special second cousins who visited her regularly in the summer, whom she loved dearly; and other family members and friends who will remember her with love. She was especially close to her aunt Kathye Miller. Her family is grateful for the time they shared with her and the memories that remain. Though her earthly journey has ended, her love and legacy will continue through the generations she leaves behind. We appreciate the loving care over the last six weeks provided by Enhabit Hospice of San Angelo. Timothy Mathias Vasquez

Timothy Mathias Vasquez, a lifelong resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 20.
Timothy was born on March 29, 2006, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Felix Vasquez and Elisa Ruiz. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Martin and Brenda Alvarado, and grew up in Hollis, Oklahoma, where he attended school and became part of a community that would always hold a special place in his heart.
During high school, Tim discovered a natural talent for athletics. Football quickly became one of his greatest passions. He loved the game and proved to be an exceptionally talented player on the field. He was also an accomplished powerlifter, demonstrating the strength and determination that were so much a part of who he was. He graduated with the Class of 2024 from Hollis High School.
As a teenager, Tim began working at the local sale barn. What started as a job became something he genuinely enjoyed. He loved working with cattle, being around the sale barn, and the people he worked alongside. He was never afraid of hard work, although those who knew him best would probably agree that Tim had a remarkable ability to find the hard way of doing just about anything.
Tim simply did not have a serious bone in his body. He was always laughing, joking, and finding humor in nearly every situation. Even in the middle of an argument, Tim could say or do something that would leave everyone laughing until they cried. He was stubborn, smart, funny, and unforgettable. He may not have had an ounce of rhythm, but what he lacked on the dance floor he more than made up for with a smile and charm that were unmatched.
Beneath all of Tim's humor was a deeply forgiving heart. He loved people freely and had a way of bringing energy into every room he entered. Whether he was working at the sale barn, hanging out with his friends, spending time with his family, or enjoying a day at the lake, Timothy knew how to have a good time. He was truly the life of the party, and life was simply more entertaining whenever Tim was around.
His family will remember the laughter, the jokes, the stubborn streak, the mischievous smile, and all the little things that made Timothy uniquely himself. Twenty years was far too short a time for those who loved him, but the laughter and memories he created during those years will remain with them for a lifetime.
Tim was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Ricardo and Julia Rosales; his paternal grandfather, Juan Vasquez; his cousin, Ernesto Vasquez; and his aunt, Michelle Ruiz.
Those left to honor and cherish Tim's memory include his mother, Elisa Ruiz; his father, Felix Vasquez; his maternal grandparents, Martin and Brenda Alvarado; his siblings, Erick Ruiz and wife Amanda, Joseph Vasquez and girlfriend Perla, Maribel Vasquez and boyfriend Jesse, AJ Vasquez, Jeremiah Vasquez, Letisha Benavidez, and Summer Benavidez; his aunts and uncles, Monica and Robert Mingura, Martin Alvarado, Mercedes and husband Corey Duncan, and Angela Tyler Birdwell, Rachel Vasquez, Johnny and Sherry Vasquez, Roy and Teresa Vasquez, Jesse and wife April Vasquez, and Kris and Ashley Vasquez; ; his paternal grandmother Ysabel Vasquez, along with numerous great aunts, and great uncles cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Tim's life may have been brief, but it was anything but quiet. He filled his twenty years with laughter, friendship, hard work, family, and enough stories to be told for generations.

ZION SKYE CAMPBELL, age 20, of Hollis, answered the call of her heavenly Father on July 19, 2026, at the young age of 20. This vibrant young lady was born to Tabitha Campbell and DeShaun Coleman on April 13, 2006. Zion was also blessed by the love of her stepfather: Madrid Scallion.
Those who knew Zion will always remember her straightforward personality. At first, she could be a little quiet and reserved, but once she got to know you, her true self shined through. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. She was sweet, beautiful, and charming with a contagious smile that could brighten your day. Her expressive and playful eye roll she was known for always brought smiles to those around her. Zion had a magnetic personality that drew people to her, and she had a special way of making everyone she met feel welcomed and loved. She was raised attending the Calvary Church in Hollis, Oklahoma, where she learned about the love of the Lord and developed the values of knowing who God is. She often sent encouraging scriptures through text messages to others. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her family and friends, making precious memories that will be treasured forever. Zion was a 2024 graduate of Hollis High School. Following high school, Zion pursued a career dedicated to helping others. She had a great passion for nursing and caring for people. She completed her classes for certification for CNA in 2025 and also became a Housekeeper at the Brookwood Skill Nursing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Zion’s greatest accomplishment in life was the birth of her son: Canaan Campbell. She loved and adored her little bundle of joy. He was her “Dooda”. Zion had the opportunity to experience celebrating a “5 generation family” twice in her lifetime. She enjoyed spending time with her cousin crew and friends. Zion had many close friends and close cousins, but she was especially close to Tyshawn Hayes, T.J. Williams, and Meya Watson. Zion also spent a lot of time at the home of Lillie Bell and Redderick Watson who always made her feel welcomed. Negilla Crowder was Zion’s godmother whom she also loved. Surmorgan Brown was also a positive role model in her life.
Although Zion’s earthly journey has ended, the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Bessie Jean Carrick was born on June 22, 1931, to Hollis and Bessie (Crow) Trammell in Whiteharrel, Texas. They moved to Hollis, Oklahoma when she was 9 years old. She attended school at Ron where she met Robert Leon Carrick, and they married her senior year, December 23, 1948. They lacked two months being married for 78 years. She worked at the A.S.C.S. office in Harmon County for 32 years. She also was very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Hollis, where she served in many capacities for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; her three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Earl Hewitt, Laverne and Curtis Hayes, and Elena Faye and Tommy Rutledge; and grandson-in-law, Brandon Berry.

Jean is survived by her son, Robert Carrick and his wife, Sheryie, of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Robyn and her husband, Craig, of Altus, Oklahoma, and Jamie Berry of Norman, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Tim, Rain, Taylor, James, and Michelle, all of Altus; Philip Berry of Norman; great-great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Krystine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

Lou Ann (Payne) White, 85, a lifelong resident of Gould, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, in Childress, Texas.
Lou Ann was born on November 6, 1940, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Garnett D. Payne and Lillian (Thrower) Payne. She was raised in the close-knit community of Gould and graduated from Gould High School with the Class of 1957. The values she learned growing up in southwest Oklahoma, hard work, kindness, faith, and devotion to family, remained the foundation of her life.
A chance phone call changed the course of Lou Ann's life forever. What began as a wrong number led to a first date and eventually a lifelong love story. On September 9, 1961, she married the love of her life, Bobby Royal White, in Harmon County, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life centered on family, farming, and serving others.
Lou Ann attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. Though she valued education, her greatest classroom was the farm and the family she loved so dearly. As a farmer's wife, there was never a dull moment. Whether she was running parts to the field, hauling cotton trailers into town, helping with the endless work that came with farm life, or standing faithfully beside her husband through every season, Lou Ann was known for her tireless work ethic and unwavering support.
More than anything, Lou Ann was a caretaker. She possessed a gentle and kind spirit and always wanted to make sure everyone around her was cared for. She opened her heart freely, offering love, encouragement, and help whenever it was needed. Family gatherings, visits with friends, and simple moments spent with those she loved brought her great joy.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Brent White , Bobby Ray White, and Lesia Ann Smith and husband Todd; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life; her sister, Lottie Cole; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Royal White, her parents, Garnett D. Payne and Lillian Payne, and daughters-in-law, Deneen White and Kathy White.
Lou Ann's life was a testament to hard work, selfless love, and quiet strength. She leaves behind countless memories and a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those who have gone before her and that her love will remain with them always.

Becky Renee Jones, a resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away on May 30, 2026, at Colonial Manor II at the age of sixty-three. Becky was born on January 5, 1963, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Robert Dale Jones and Tresha Edwards Jones. She was raised in Hollis, Oklahoma, where she developed the joyful spirit and loving heart that would touch so many lives throughout her years. Becky found happiness in the simple things she loved most. She enjoyed spending time with her family, singing her favorite songs, strumming on her guitar, even if she never quite mastered it, and listening to music, especially country and western music. She loved watching movies, going to McDonald's, and sharing special moments with those around her. One of her greatest companions was her beloved dog, Snowball, with whom she shared a special bond. Following the passing of her mother, Becky moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, where she became a resident of Quality Enterprises Group Homes. She lived there from 2002 until 2023 and cherished every moment. Becky had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine kindness brought joy to every room she entered. In 2023, Becky returned to Hollis and made her home at Colonial Manor II, where she continued to brighten the lives of those around her. Though Becky faced the challenges of special needs throughout her life, she possessed a unique ability to love others unconditionally. Her presence brought comfort, happiness, and laughter to family, friends, caregivers, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. The love Becky shared was truly one of a kind, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. She was preceded in death by her mother, Tresha Edwards Murphy; her grandmother, Emma Edwards; her brother, Billy Edwards; and her aunts, Pat Smith, Sherba Brown, and Joyce Boice. Becky is survived by her cousins, Ranonda, Robin, Steve, Faith, Hope, Mark, Michael, Marty, and Deni. along with numerous extended family members, caregivers, and friends who will cherish her memory for years to come. Becky's life was a testament to the power of kindness, friendship, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, the joy she brought into the world will continue to shine through all who knew and loved her.

Alvilda Ortiz, 73 Years of age, passed on May 18, 2026, at BSA Hospital, Amarillo, TX. Alvilda was born January 3, 1953, in Mathis Texas, to Manuel and Ofelia Jaramillo. As the oldest of ten children, she helped guide and nurture her siblings with love and strength. In 1966, the family moved to Hollis, where she became a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She graduated from Hollis High School, earned her Associates Degree from Altus Western College, and later proudly graduated from The University of Oklahoma. In 1972, Alvilda married Flores Ortiz and together they had four children. Family memories are rooted in Hollis. She uplifted others through music as a choir director, inspired young children as CCD teacher, and dedicated herself to numerous committees. A woman of many talents and strong work ethic, her final venture was with The Golden Age Apartments, where she served until retiring in 2026. Alvilda treasured every moment spent with family and friends. She delighted in spending time fishing with her grandkids, taking in the moments. She found joy tending to her garden, admiring blooming flowers, listening to birdsong while sipping coffee in the warm sunshine. She was a loving caring person, a devoted mother and friend. In her own words, “I lived a good life”, something we should all strive to have. Alvilda was proceeded in death by her Husband, Flores, son, Jeffery, and both parents, Manuel and Ofelia. Alvilda leaves her children, Florenzio Jr., wife Aurora, Steven, wife Sarah, and Angelica, husband Jason; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host siblings. nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alvilda’s resting place will be next to her mother at Fairmount Cemetery.

Billie Gayle Bilbrey, lovingly known to all simply as Gayle, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life beautifully lived. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo, Texas, and was formerly of Oklahoma and Kansas. Gayle was born and raised in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Estel and Ora Marie "Billie" Penington. She graduated from Ron High School in 1954, a place and community she carried closely in her heart throughout her life. On October 10, 1954, Gayle married the love of her life, Billy Wayne Bilbrey, at Metcalf Baptist Church. Together they shared fifty-six wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, faith, and family. Their journey together carried them through Hollis, Oklahoma; Larned and Dodge City, Kansas; and eventually Amarillo, Texas, where they made countless cherished memories together. Gayle worked faithfully for many years as a bank teller before retiring in 1996. Yet her greatest work in life was never found behind a counter, but in the way she cared for others. Throughout her life, Gayle was the caretaker, encourager, and steady source of comfort for anyone fortunate enough to know her. She possessed a servant's heart and found joy in helping others in both big and small ways. Her faith was an important foundation in her life. A devoted Southern Baptist, Gayle volunteered faithfully at the churches wherever she lived, helping with Vacation Bible School, quilting groups, and countless other activities. While living in Dodge City, Kansas, she was actively involved in her church community. After moving to Amarillo in 2017 to be closer to family, she attended Lifeway Fellowship Church and later participated in worship services held at The Continental Assisted Living Center, where she resided. When Gayle moved into The Continental Senior Living in Amarillo in 2017, she quickly became what many lovingly called the "unofficial welcoming committee." She never met a stranger. With her warm smile, kind spirit, and natural ability to connect with others, she could begin a conversation with anyone and leave having made a lifelong friend. She became deeply involved in the many activities there and brought joy and encouragement to residents and staff alike. One of Gayle's greatest passions later in life became drawing. What began as a simple art class soon blossomed into an incredible gift. She spent countless hours creating personalized drawings for family, friends, fellow residents, and anyone whose life she touched. Whether drawing beloved pets, beautiful scenery, or treasured loved ones, her artwork reflected the beauty she saw in the world around her. She was a remarkably talented artist whose drawings became treasured keepsakes for so many. Gayle loved sewing, picture taking, cooking, and creating beauty in every form possible. She was always on the move, always involved, always looking for ways to brighten someone else's day through conversation, prayer, kindness, or art. Her life was a reflection of grace, compassion, and genuine love for others. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Wayne Bilbrey; her parents, Estel and Ora Marie "Billie" Penington; her daughter, Phyllis Jobe; and her twin brother, Harold Penington. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Kirk Bilbrey and Kris Bilbrey and wife Nikki; her twin brother, Dayle Penington; her grandchildren, Casey, Kevin, Leigh Ann, Kelsey, Buddy, Krista, and Tate; and her great-grandchildren, Trevor, Logan, Wyatt, Weston, Daytin, Zsophia, Zarron, Zeila Victoria, and son in law, Keith Jobe, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and love. Gayle's life was a masterpiece of compassion, creativity, and faith. Mary Reyes, a longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on May 17, 2026, at Colonial Manor II in Hollis, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 73 years old.
Mary was born on May 9, 1953, in Greenlee, Colorado, to Vincente and Genobeba Fuentes. Raised as the daughter of migrant workers, Mary’s early life was rooted in hard work, faith, and family. Traveling throughout the West Texas Panhandle and Hollis, Oklahoma during her childhood, she developed a deep appreciation for family bonds, perseverance, and the Lord, values that would guide her throughout her life.
Mary was raised in the Pentecostal church, where her love for the gospel first took root. Her faith was not simply something she believed, but something she lived each day. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was never ashamed to share her faith, encouragement, and wisdom with others. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a song, or prayer, Mary constantly pointed those around her toward Christ.
Full of life and energy, Mary had a joyful spirit that could light up any room. She loved singing gospel music, watching her beloved “Days of Our Lives,” and spending time with those she cherished most. Kind, respectful, hardworking, and always willing to offer advice or encouragement, Mary was a steady source of strength for her family. Education was especially important to her, and she constantly encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams and better themselves.
While working in the fields in Hollis, Mary met the love of her life, Freddy Reyes. Their love story began humbly among the long days of labor and sacrifice, eventually blossoming into a lifelong partnership. They were united in marriage in 1970 and together built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and ministry.
Alongside Freddy, Mary traveled throughout Oklahoma and Texas as an evangelist, sharing the gospel and ministering to countless people through the years in tent revivals. She faithfully served beside her husband as First Lady Monte Calvario, in Wellington, Texas. Dedicating her life to serving others and spreading the message of God’s love. Her ministry touched many lives, and her unwavering faith left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Mary deeply loved her brothers and sisters and treasured the closeness they shared throughout her life. Family was always at the center of her heart. She was the embodiment of Proverbs 31.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Freddie Reyes; her children, Freddie Reyes Jr. and wife Tiffany Lorraine Reyes, Eddie Reyes and wife Cindy E. Reyes, Grady Reyes and wife Sophia Reyes, Teddy Reyes and Sarah Lyette Reyes, Roman Reyes and fiancée Brittany, and Kristi Anna Reyes.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Jimmy Fuentes, Fernando Fuentes, Anita Castaneda, Carol Davila, Susan Larios, Patty Herrera, Genevie Aldaco, and Vickie Fernandez.
Mary also leaves behind a legacy of love through her cherished grandchildren: Chloe, Zoe Nicole, Emma, Ivy, Kayla, Raina, Marissa, Michelle, J’Da, G’Gady, Samara, Mia, Moses, Axel, Kaelynn, Camerson, Ramiro, and Marcela.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Angie Reyes; her mother, Genobeba Soza; her stepfather, Alonzo Soza; her father, and her precious great-grandchild, Zaylie Nguyen.
Mary will be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith, a loving wife and mother, a devoted grandmother, and a servant of God whose life was defined by love, sacrifice, and compassion. Though her family’s hearts are heavy with loss, they find peace in knowing she is now resting in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served all her life.
