This past week, we thought Annabelle had torn her ACL. All manual testing pointed to a positive injury.
Injury anytime can be crushing. But especially right before some very important games… This was hard news to swallow.
Also seeing her hurt and unable to walk when she is usually constantly on the move… My mind sprung into action thinking what's the next step, resources, what can we do now for later.
Annabelle has a privilege of playing for Wake FC U12 Pre Academy GA G and being coached by Taylor Kyle . Her team, the parents and most of Coach TK have been wonderful.
When I let TK know what we thought happened to Annabelle he immediately connected me with surgeons and gave recommendations. He sent a text to Annabelle with encouragement and support which meant literally everything to her because she has so much respect for him. Huge!
Turns out Annabelle has a congenital anomaly, a discoid shaped meniscus which we found on the MRI. This is excellent news because now we know what we didn't know before and can just work to get her strong and resilient!
I am grateful to have a network of support, not only foundational with a great coach who develops excellent skill but also through friends and mentors, who were there on a dime when I had questions:
John Sinclair Shannon l Movement Pro, Soft Tissue Therapist, Holistic Trainer Soft Tissue Therapy
just like anything in life… A network, a team approach to health and resilience, increasing knowledge deficits, and taking action always pays off!
As a Mom… I am so grateful for the community that Annabelle and the incredible athletes that she plays with!
Thank you Taylor Kyle for all that you do on and off the field.
