We all have a vision of what we want in life. But what separates those who dream about it from those who make it happen?
It starts with desire, belief, and the courage to take action.

The Most Important Promise I Ever Made.
It was not to investors, employees, or customers. It was to my children.

Happy Father's Day.

On this Father's Day, I returned to the gates of Columbia University where my American journey began.

I arrived in New York City from Jamaica with a soccer scholarship and $47 in my pocket. I washed dishes and bussed tables at John Jay Dining Hall so I could eat for free. My accent was thick, my writing was poor, and public speaking made me uncomfortable.

Many people saw me as a soccer player.

I saw something more.

Columbia challenged me, but it also shaped me. Engineering, soccer, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance taught me that weaknesses do not have to define your future. With effort, they can become strengths.

Standing beside Hamilton Hall reminded me of the most important promise I ever made. Not a business promise. Not a promise to investors or customers.

A promise to my children.

Because I grew up without a father, I knew that if I was blessed with children one day, I wanted to be present. I wanted to show up. I wanted them to know they were loved, supported, protected, and encouraged to pursue excellence.

Fatherhood is leadership. And leadership begins at home.

Success is not only measured by degrees, companies, titles, or accomplishments. It is measured by the doors we open for others, especially our children.

To every father reading this, your presence matters more than you know.

Make the time. Keep the commitment. Show up.

One day your children will remember not what you owned, but that you were there.

Happy Father's Day.

What I Learned From Being A Team Physician Quietly

Doing the right thing multiplies.

Years ago, I was asked to serve as the team physician for Cavalier FC in Jamaica. I accepted with gratitude.

What began as a simple act of service quickly became a gift in my life. On weekend mornings when I was home in Jamaica running my practice, I would train with the team. Sometimes I even got the chance to start at striker with the B team. On a good day we would give the A team a real match.

I remember one game when I played well and the captain, whose nickname is Messi, walked over and said, “Doc, you played great today.” It felt special.

Over the years I treated many of the players, wrote important medical letters for the club, and supported the team whenever I could. I never thought about what I might gain in return. I simply believed it was the right thing to do.

Fast forward to 2025.

There I was walking the sidelines and into the locker room at Inter Miami Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, watching Messi up close.

Life has a way of multiplying small acts of goodwill.

Serving those players freely gave me something far greater in return. It gave me joy, friendships, and a reminder that doing the right thing creates opportunities that cannot be planned.

My journey through trials and challenges has reinforced this belief. There is a purpose in the work we do and the people we help along the way.

I am grateful for the investors and colleagues who believed it was the right thing to partner with me to build our own company.

Doing the right thing multiplies.

Thank you.

Great to be here at in New Orleans and see the growing energy around orthopaedic surgery in outpatient ambulatory surgery centers. As an orthopaedic spine surgeon, it’s exciting to see this evolution, as ASCs are becoming an important part of how we deliver high-quality care to our patients.

You may be wondering…
How did we last this long,
since 2005,
in an industry dominated by distribution giants, institutions and private equity?

I won’t give you the how.
I’ll give you the why.

First — we had no Plan B. We had to survive.
Second — we believed physicians could out-innovate companies not led by physicians. We live the problems. We treat the patients.
Third — we chose personalized, premium service over chasing revenue. Relationships over transactions. Long-term trust over short-term gain.

We’ve never taken venture capital or institutional funding.
We relied on revenue, founder capital, and physicians who wanted to build outside the matrix to publish meaningful research, develop technologies that truly help patients, and experience the entrepreneurial spirit of building something lasting.

We have faced COVID. Legal battles. Industry resistance.
Conviction carried us.

To those who chose the red pill, thank you.

As for me, I’m simply doing my job every day.
It’s not about title or power.
It’s about duty and service.
Sacrifice and faith.
