But across the country, products containing Kratom—a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia—are raising major public health concerns. Marketed under the guise of "natural energy" or "relaxation," Kratom is quietly slipping into everyday items like energy drinks, canned seltzers, and wellness shots.

At higher doses, Kratom can actually act like an opioid in the brain, leading to risks like a fast heart rate, dependency, and intense withdrawal symptoms. It’s time to look past the marketing and see these products for what they really are.
