Today, we join communities around the world in recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and reaffirming our commitment to protecting the dignity, safety, and well-being of older adults.
Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect. Every older adult deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and kindness.
At Elizabeth Brewster House, we are dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and caring environment where residents are valued, heard, and empowered. We encourage everyone to learn the signs of elder abuse, speak up when concerns arise, and help foster a community where our seniors can thrive.
Together, we can make a difference by promoting awareness, advocating for respect, and ensuring that every older adult is treated with the dignity they deserve.

We were blessed yesterday with a visit from Daisy from Ponies for Purpose 🐴! The residents and staff always enjoy the animals that visit us during our monthly animal therapy.😊

Our residents had a lovely time attending the Cortland County Dairy Parade, enjoying the sights, sounds, and smiles that make this event so meaningful each year. Outings like these are more than just fun, they are opportunities to connect and create joyful memories together. We are so grateful to share these moments with our residents, especially on such a beautiful day! ☀️

Job description:
Elizabeth Brewster House is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work 20 hours per week.. This position supports resident care, medication administration, and coordination with staff to ensure compliance with New York State Department of Health requirements.

Schedule:
Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week (schedule to be determined)

Responsibilities:
-Complete medication documentation and follow DOH requirements
-Monitor resident health status and report changes
-Communicate with providers, pharmacy, and staff
-Support resident care planning and follow-up
-Ensure proper medication storage and handling
-Assist with compliance, audits, and documentation review

Qualifications:
-Current New York State LPN license (required)
-Experience in adult care, assisted living, or similar setting preferred
-Knowledge of medication administration and documentation standards
-Ability to work independently and follow facility policies

Requirements:
-Must pass background check
-Must meet all DOH training and health requirements

Pay Rate:
$25-$27 per hour

This afternoon, our residents enjoyed a relaxing spa day 🧴🥒. They had snacks, warm towels, massages, and face masks! There’s nothing better than a massage on a rainy day like this one.😌

This afternoon we went out on an ice cream trip to Super Cream Dairy Bar and enjoyed our favorite ice cream. After, we ventured around Little York Park and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. ☀️
