Homestead Hospital has been a part of the south Miami-Dade community since 1940, when local physician James Archer Smith opened it as a 10-bed hospital east of Krome Avenue. Baptist Health offers an extensive range of medical, surgical and technological services — including weight-loss surgery, pediatrics, addiction treatment and cancer care — by renowned physicians.

After more than three decades of caring for the Homestead community, Cyndi F. is marking a meaningful milestone of her own.

An infection control nurse at Homestead Hospital, Cyndi received cancer care through Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute and later received oncology infusions closer to home at Homestead Hospital. Her bell-ringing ceremony celebrates an important chapter in her cancer journey and the people who have stood beside her. Her openness has also encouraged colleagues to prioritize preventive screenings.

Recovering from acute or disabling illnesses and injuries can take time, support and specialized care. Baptist Health Rehabilitation at Homestead Hospital offers an inpatient rehabilitation program that provides patients with structured, goal-oriented therapy designed to help them regain strength, improve mobility and work toward greater independence in a supportive hospital setting. Within this program, professionals like physical therapist Jasmin work closely with patients to guide their recovery and help them safely progress toward returning to daily life. For Jasmin, the meaningful moments are often the milestones along the way.
