“Breastfeeding feels like getting a tattoo on my ni**le"

A mom said this to me today, and while it may sound funny, it’s certainly not how it should feel!

👉 breastfeeding should not be painful.

Some tenderness in the first few days can be normal, but pain, pinching, cracking, or feeling like you're getting a tattoo every time your baby latches is often a sign that something needs adjusted!!

A comfortable latch starts with good positioning 👇

✨ Baby's body is pulled in close
✨ Cheeks are touching the breast
✨ Chin is buried into the breast
✨ Nose remains free for breathing
✨ Bottom lip is fl**ged outward
✨ Top lip is neutral or gently fl**ged outward

Small adjustments in positioning and latch can make a HUGE difference in comfort, milk transfer, and your overall breastfeeding experience!!!

If breastfeeding hurts 👉 don't assume you just have to push through it.

Sometimes a few simple changes can turn a painful feeding into a comfortable one.

Need help with positioning, latch, or pumping? Send me a message—I help families find solutions that make feedings feel better for both mom and baby. 🤍

A great fl**ge fit can make all the difference in your pumping journey.

The right size helps improve milk removal, support your milk supply, and make pumping more comfortable. If your fl**ge doesn’t fit well, you may notice pain, rubbing, or lower milk output.

Pairing the right fl**ge with hands-on pumping can be a game changer—gentle compression and breast support can help improve drainage and may help reduce clogged ducts.

Small adjustments can lead to big improvements in comfort and efficiency 🤍

If you’re unsure about your fl**ge fit or want personalized support, you can message me directly—I can help with fl**ge sizing and pumping guidance, and I accept most major private insurances.

There’s a moment after birth that no one can fully prepare you for.

The room may be loud or quiet. Busy or calm.
But somehow, all you can see is your baby.

And suddenly your mind is filled with everything at once…

“Are they okay?”
“I can’t believe they’re finally here.”
“How can I love someone this much already?”
“Am I doing this right?”
“They’re so tiny.”
“What if I mess this up?”
“I never want to stop looking at them.”
“I’m exhausted.”
“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I would do absolutely anything for this baby.”

The first hours of motherhood can feel beautiful, emotional, terrifying, magical, and heavy — all at the same time.

If you’re a new mom sitting in that swirl of emotions right now, you are not alone. 🤍
You don’t have to have it all figured out to be a good mother.

Sometimes love and worry arrive together. And that’s part of the beginning, too.

Watching a baby breastfeed looks so natural — but it’s actually an incredible skill your baby is learning🤍

Babies have to coordinate a very important rhythm:

✨ Suck
And then 👇

✨ Swallow
And then 👇

✨ Breathe

And for newborns, that takes practice.

In the early days, you may notice:
• pauses during feeding
• little breathing breaks
• changes in sucking speed
• milk leaking from the mouth
• occasional coughing or sputtering

Most of the time, this is part of your baby learning how to manage milk flow and coordinate feeding safely.

A deep latch, supportive positioning, and following your baby’s cues can help make feeding feel more comfortable and organized for both of you 🤱

As babies grow, their suck-swallow-breathe pattern becomes smoother and more efficient — which is one reason feeds often get easier with time.

Breastfeeding is not just eating… it’s a learned coordination skill for your baby and a learning experience for moms too 💛

Having postpartum support is so very important! Not only for the physical help but to have connection. We as moms need connection to thrive but to also provide better care for our families. Tammy is truly amazing at what she does. I wish all of the families I work with had a postpartum doula, it would make a huge difference in their lives 👶🤰

This is what postpartum support actually looks like. Not perfection. Not picture-perfect moments. Just someone stepping in and meeting this family where they were at to help however mom needed that day.

Gassy baby needed belly time for soothing relief.
Laundry needed folding.
Mom needed less on her plate.
So we handled all three.✅✅✅

With me as your postpartum doula, you’ll always have an extra set of hands when you need them most. Even the hard, messy, gassy newborn days will feel a little lighter. 💕

Reach out to book your complimentary discovery call to learn how we can support YOU and help you have the best postpartum experience! And reach out early!

We are always rooted in nurture 🤍

Did you know babies use two different kinds of suckling while breastfeeding?

1️⃣ Nutritive sucking happens when milk is letting down from the breast and then your baby swallows after one or two sucks

2️⃣ Nonnutritive sucking is where your baby sucks without much swallowing. This type of suck is just as important because it stimulates the breast to let down milk. Women can have multiple let downs during a breastfeeding session. This is why babies do not use the breast as a pacifier.

✨ When your pump has more customization than your coffee order… ✨👇

Can we take a second for the Spectra Gold pump?!

Because WOW — this pump is basically the VIP of breast pumps and I get a little too excited every time I see one in a consult 😍

Here’s why it’s so fancy:
👉 It allows you to adjust settings for EACH breast independently

Yes… you read that right. Each side gets its own suction and cycle settings.

Why does that matter?
Because your body isn’t perfectly symmetrical — and your breasts aren’t either. One side might:
• Have a faster letdown
• Need stronger (or gentler) suction
• Produce more or less milk

With most pumps, you’re stuck picking one setting for both sides… but not with this beauty. The Spectra Gold lets you truly tailor the experience so each breast gets individualized attention which could create 👇

✨ More comfort
✨ More efficient milk removal
✨ Can help support better output over time

BUT — let’s keep it real for a second 👇

⚡️This pump is NOT necessary for most moms. It’s a fancy upgrade, not a must-have⚡️

Most moms can get great output with:
✔️ The right fl**ge size
✔️ Proper settings
✔️ Good positioning

Don’t let fancy features make you think you need the most high-tech pump to be successful — you don’t 🙌

It’s like giving each side its own personalized treatment plan… but plenty of moms do amazing with simpler setups too!
