We’re excited to welcome the 2026–2027 Project SEARCH interns to Wayne Memorial Hospital! 💜
Over the coming year, these interns will gain hands-on experience throughout the hospital, build valuable workplace skills and become part of the WMH team. We can’t wait to watch them learn, grow and thrive!

And they already had a pretty great highlight — Day 2 included a visit with Sophie, one of Wayne Memorial’s therapy pups! 🐾

It was a Monday, and rainy, perhaps you even remember the song from The Carpenters. Not here though, surprise! Look at that smile. It was all sunshine in the Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) Wound Care Clinic yesterday, celebrating the retirement of Dr. Patrick Clauss. Decorations, a cake, gifts, and lots of well wishes made for a really good day and a fun farewell. Dr. Clauss started when the Wound Care Clinic opened in 2005 and, after a hiatus at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, returned to WMH. Additionally, he tended to residents at Wayne Woodlands Manor and had his own practice in Moscow. The doctor sure keeps busy. Plus, in his spare time he enjoys stonework, and not just for himself, for family members too. Who would’ve guessed! That’s in his initial retirement plans. He’s working on a patio and a stone wall, and he’s keeping plenty of time for the grandchildren too. Thank you Dr. Clauss and congratulations. Enjoy the next chapter.

Congratulations to Kelsey Lowe, RN, WMH’s August Employee of the Month!

Kelsey has been a valued member of the WMH Intensive Care Unit for six years. Known for always being willing to lend a helping hand, Kelsey is a dependable and supportive presence for both her patients and her coworkers. Her commitment to her work is also reflected in her impressive attendance record.

Her dedication to her patients, her willingness to help wherever she is needed and the commitment she brings to work every day do not go unnoticed.” said Jim Pettinato, BSN, MHSA, CCRN-K, CEO, "We truly appreciate Kelsey and all of her hard work."
