Lake Ariel Family Health Center Accepting New Patients with Addition of Advanced Practice Provider

Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) welcomes Nurse Practitioner Susan Kurilla, DNP, to its staff at the Lake Ariel Family Health Center located at 358 Hamlin Highway. Kurilla joins Internist Mark Murnin, DO, in offering primary care services.

Kurilla treats patients as young as 16 years old, however, has an extensive background working with the geriatric patient population as a Nurse Practitioner and prior to that as a Registered Nurse. In the role of Primary Care Provider, Kurilla emphasizes preventative care, health maintenance and early management of comorbidities to decrease the likelihood for emergent and critical care.
“My goal is to help our patients improve and maintain their quality of life and functional independence to their maximum capability,” stated Kurilla.

Kurilla holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Pennsylvania State University and earned a Master of Science as a Nurse Practitioner Adult Primary Care – Gerontology from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Bloomsburg University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University.

Among her work experience, Kurilla served as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in post-acute care settings including Greenwood Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Tamaqua, PA and St. Luke’s Village in Hazelton, PA. She was a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Trauma ICU at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Prior to her nursing career, she spent seven years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in blood bank, also at Geisinger.

To make an appointment with Susan Kurilla, DNP, call Lake Ariel Family Health Center at 570-689-2242. July 2026 WMCHC Employee of the Month – Amanda Cordero

Amanda Cordero, of Hamlin Family Health Center, received a surprise during WMCHC’s Annual Employee BBQ when her name was announced as the organization’s July 2026 Employee of the Month.

Amanda's nomination included kudos for her work with Hamlin’s Dramatic Performance Improvement (DPI) team, excelling while transitioning to a new role at the Hamlin site and being a “go-to” for coworkers needing assistance.

Practice Manager Janice McConnell summed up many of Amanda’s qualities by stating, “She is dependable, compassionate, creative, and always willing to lend a hand. Her commitment to her patients, her provider, her teammates, and our mission makes her an invaluable member of our organization. She exemplifies what it means to lead through service, strengthen a team through kindness, and live out the principles of continuous improvement every day.”

Congrats, Amanda!

Message from WMCHC Regarding Childhood Vaccination

At Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) our providers continue to recommend following the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2026 Immunizations Schedule to help protect infants, children, and teens from serious vaccine-preventable diseases. We believe vaccines are safe, effective and an important part of preventive care. https://www.aap.org/en/patient-care/immunizations/?srsltid=AfmBOop8c-0vo3nufjmfCUil3thfIFk8j8-Y4dV8Lc0TnLD8Bk4YBCzL

WMCHC respects parents’ wishes and offers care for all patients regardless of position on vaccines.

Regular, routine pediatric visits incorporate much more than vaccines -- so remember it is important for infants and children to be seen by their provider to monitor milestones and development.
