🌊💙 Proud to be the Title Sponsor of the Eat Pono 5K & 10K Swim! 💙🌊

It was an honor for Eat Pono by Candes & Poet to sponsor the Eat Pono 5K & 10K, hosted by Race Director Jon Storm and the North Shore Swim Series.

At Eat Pono, our mission is to inspire healthier people, stronger communities, and a more sustainable Hawaiʻi by connecting nutrition, local agriculture, and active lifestyles. Supporting events like this allows us to help provide endurance athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level on Oʻahu’s North Shore in the longest certified open-water swim in the State of Hawaiʻi. 🌺🏊‍♀️

🌺 It was truly a day of the wāhine! Congratulations to Corey Farah (17), the overall winner of the 5K, and Rachel Randall (34), the overall winner of the 10K. What inspiring performances! 👏🏆

A heartfelt mahalo to the incredible Honolulu Ocean Safety Department lifeguards, Tim Marr longtime friend and triathlete who brought fun and enthusiastic commentary, all of the volunteers, and our generous sponsors who made this event safe, memorable, and successful for nearly 100 swimmers.

Special thanks to:

🍫🌺 Did you know Hawaiʻi is the only place in the United States where cacao can grow? 🌱 It all comes down to our unique latitude—nestled perfectly within the narrow tropical belt where cacao trees thrive 🌍☀️

Today we toured a cacao farm and saw firsthand how chocolate begins… from vibrant pods growing right on the tree to the rich, velvety treat we all love 🍃➡️🍫

There’s something so special about knowing this little piece of paradise can grow something so globally cherished 💛 It makes every bite of chocolate even more magical ✨

Grateful for days like this—learning, tasting, and soaking in the beauty of Hawaiʻi 🌈🌴

🌱✨ Growing a healthier Hawaiʻi, together ✨🌱

From classrooms to communities, keiki across Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, and Maui are getting hands-on with hydroponics 🌿💧—learning how to grow fresh, nutritious food while building a deeper connection to what nourishes us.

At schools like Mililani High and Waipahu High, students are cultivating vibrant veggies 🥬🍅 and sharing their knowledge—reminding us that the future of food starts with education, curiosity, and care.

🌍 This March, we celebrated National Nutrition Month—a time to discover the power of making informed food choices and building healthy habits for life.

🤝 Even in the face of recent storms, our local farmers and communities have come together—demonstrating resilience, collaboration, and a deep commitment to Hawaiʻi’s food systems.

🌺 And through gatherings like the We Grow Hawaiʻi Youth Food Summit, our youth are stepping up—learning, leading, and shaping a more sustainable future rooted in ʻike (knowledge) and kuleana (responsibility).

💚 Support local. Grow local. Eat local.
Because when we nourish our land, we nourish our people.

Day 10 of our 12 Days of Eat Pono 🎄🥗✨

Quick, warm, and so satisfying 🍽️ This Okinawa Sweet Potato Shepherd’s Pie is the kind of holiday dinner that feels cozy + comforting, but still checks the “feel good after” box 💜🍠

Why we’re obsessed with Okinawa sweet potatoes:
💜 that deep purple color = antioxidant-rich goodness
🌾 fiber = supports digestion + keeps you fuller longer
⚡ slow-burning carbs = steady energy (no crash)
🍠 naturally sweet + creamy = the dreamiest mash topping

Easy dinner move:
Make the savory filling (ground meat or lentils + veggies), spread it in a dish, top with mashed Okinawa sweet potato, and bake until warm + golden on top 🔥

Day 9 of our 12 Days of Eat Pono 🎄🥗✨

Dessert that’s literally dressed to impress 😍🍰 Our Dressed to Impress Jello Cake (from the Eat Pono Cookbook) is light, festive, and the perfect make-ahead treat for holiday parties + family dinners.

Why we love it:
🍓 fruity flavor = bright + refreshing (not heavy)
✨ jello magic = fun texture + pretty layers
🍰 cake base = classic comfort with a holiday twist
❄️ served chilled = ideal for prepping ahead

Day 7 of our 12 Days of Eat Pono 🎄🥗✨

This plum + apple crisp is warm, bubbly, and topped with that golden crunch—aka the easiest “wow” dessert that still feels good.

Why we love it:
🍎 apples + plums = naturally sweet + perfectly tangy
🌾 oats = that crisp topping crunch + extra fiber
🌰 nuts = toasty flavor + satisfying healthy fats
✨ cinnamon + vanilla = instant holiday comfort in every bite

Pro tip:
Serve it warm with a spoonful of Greek yogurt (or your fave plant-based scoop) for the dreamiest dessert moment 🤍
