🪑 Why do your hips feel tight after sitting all day?!!

When you sit for hours, your hips stay bent for a long time. Here’s what’s happening:
• Iliopsoas (hip flexors) — stay shortened while your hip is bent
• Gluteus maximus (glutes) — stay relaxed and less active
• Hamstrings (back of your thighs) — stay in one position for hours
• Hip joint capsule — can become stiff when the joint doesn’t move enough

The results?! Stiffness, tightness, and less comfortable movement when you stand, walk, or exercise.

💡 Your hips are designed to move.
Stand up. Walk. Stretch. Change positions throughout the day.

Move your hips — your body will thank you. 🦴✨

📱💻 Looking down at your phone or computer all day? Your neck feels it.

Your head weighs about 10–12 lbs. As you bend your neck forward, your muscles have to work harder to support it.

The small muscles under your skull—the suboccipital muscles—can become tight and irritated. They sit close to the greater occipital nerve, which travels from your upper neck toward the back and top of your head.

This can contribute to neck pain, headaches, and tenderness in the back of your head.

👉 Raise your screen. Take movement breaks. Give your neck a break.

💧 Hydrate. Sleep. Recover. Move better.

Healing an injury isn’t just about treating the painful area. Your mind, body, and recovery habits all play a role.

Proper hydration, quality sleep, and daily self-care help your body recover—while addressing movement patterns and mechanics can help you get back to moving stronger and more efficiently.

Don’t just work around the pain. Fix the mechanics behind it. 💪

🏈 Back-to-School Sports: 3 Ways Parents Can Help Prevent Injuries ⚽️ 🏀 ⚾️

After a summer of less activity, kids shouldn’t go from the couch straight into full-speed practices. Help their bodies ramp up gradually!

1. Start slow 🐢
Encourage your child to ease back into running, jumping, and sport-specific activities instead of going 0 → 100 on day one.

2. Don’t skip the warm-up 🔥
Make sure your child arrives early enough to properly warm up—especially before practices, games, and tournaments.

3. Hydrate + fuel 💧🍎
Send your child to practice hydrated and make sure they’re eating enough throughout the day. An empty tank makes it harder to perform and recover.

BONUS TIP!!
Pay attention to pain 🚨
Teach your child the difference between normal muscle soreness and pain that persists, worsens, or changes how they move. Pain isn’t something they should simply “push through.”

❤️ Parent reminder:
Your child doesn’t need to be “tough.” They need to be prepared.

A gradual return to activity can help kids build strength, endurance, and confidence while reducing their risk of getting hurt.

Save this for back-to-school season & share with another sports parent! 🤙🏾
