It was a well-deserved opportunity for team members to connect and celebrate together.

💙 Honoring the people behind generations of care.

This month, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health recognized 331 Oʻahu employees for reaching milestone years of service, spanning 15 years to more than 50 years of dedication.

Behind every milestone is a story of compassion and commitment to our patients and communities. Together, these employees represent decades of care, mentorship, innovation, and service that have helped shape Hawaiʻi Pacific Health and strengthen the health of our communities.

While years of service can be measured, the impact cannot. It's reflected in the patients whose lives were touched, the colleagues who were mentored, and the generations of caregivers who continue their legacy.

🌺 Mahalo to all of our Employee Service Award honorees. While this celebration recognized Oʻahu employees, we also recently honored milestone service award recipients on Kauaʻi at a separate event. Thank you for everything you do to help create a healthier Hawaiʻi.

👋 Meet Samantha Conde, a Health Careers Summer Internship Program participant spending her summer in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women & Children.

A senior at Punahou School, Samantha joined the program to learn more about healthcare and what it takes to care for patients and their families.

One of her favorite experiences has been shadowing doctors during NICU rounds.

"It was very inspiring to watch the doctors care for patients who can't speak for themselves," Samantha shared. "It was interesting to see how the doctors worked around this challenge and were still able to treat their patients."

Growing up with parents who work in hospitals, Samantha developed an early interest in healthcare and has gained a new appreciation for the teamwork behind patient care.

"The most surprising thing I learned is that it takes a community to run the hospital. It's not just the doctors and nurses. The whole hospital works together to create a meaningful experience for patients."

Thank you, Samantha, for giving us a glimpse into your summer internship experience and the incredible teamwork that powers patient care every day. 💙

Not long ago, they were Kamehameha Schools students themselves. Today, they're alumni and healthcare professionals helping the next generation discover what's possible in a career dedicated to caring for others. 🌟

That full-circle journey came to life as physicians and leaders from across Hawaiʻi Pacific Health connected with Kamehameha Schools students participating in HPH's Health Careers Summer Internship program and the KS Summer Nurse Aide Training program for a morning of mentorship and career exploration.

From discussing educational pathways and daily responsibilities to answering questions about their careers, our team provided firsthand insight into the many opportunities available across the healthcare field. Students gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to lead a meaningful and rewarding career while being grounded in culture, passion, and commitment towards helping their community.

Mahalo to HPH employees and KS alumni Kauhi Ahana, Sarah Nance, Dr. Ronnie Texeira, and Dr. Kara Wong Ramsey for inspiring the next generation of Native Hawaiian healthcare professionals and to the students who brought their curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful questions to the conversation. 💙
