Abstract submissions are open for the 2027 Hawaii Nursing Scientific Symposium!

The goal of HNSS is to bring nurses together from across the islands to share inquiry projects with each other. By hosting this event, we hope to foster faster translation of science into practice and to build a statewide nursing scientific community.

Nurses and interdisciplinary teams that include nurses are invited to submit abstracts for:

1️⃣ Original research studies

2️⃣ Evidence-based practice projects

3️⃣ Program development, implementation, and evaluation

4️⃣ Quality or practice improvement projects.

We want to celebrate Hawaii nurses at every stage of their careers in both academic and clinical settings who are committed to improving nursing practice though scientific inquiry.

Registration is open for our first ever NP Week Conference!

Our keynote speaker will be Valerie Fuller, President of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

We will also have presentations from local NPs from every county in the state who will discuss topics such as NP practice, the future of the NP profession, starting a business, and more.

It's a great opportunity to network with local NPs and celebrate the vital role of nurse practitioners in our local healthcare community.

It's Nurses Week so we wanted to send a little extra aloha 🩷🌺 to every nurse in Hawaii. We are grateful for your expertise, compassion, and commitment to caring for the people of our state. Mahalo nui for all you do.

Much of our team was in San Diego this week with our friends and colleagues from the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers. We spent two and a half days hearing presentations and engaging in conversations about nursing workforce. We are feeling energized and ready to bring back much of what we learned back home so we can continue working to support Hawaii's nurses.

Governor Josh Green issued a Fourth Emergency Proclamation Relating to the Maui Wildfires today.

It allows nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists with an active, unencumbered license in another state to provide healthcare services in Hawaii.
