Creating Body Balance
Ten years ago, I made one of the most important decisions of my life. I was tired of job hopping, tired of feeling like I was drifting without purpose. Deep down, I knew I was meant for something more—something meaningful. That was the moment (and a little push from my partner) I chose to go to school and pursue massage therapy.
From the very first day, I fell in love.
It didn’t feel like work. It felt like coming home.
Growing up as a soccer athlete, my life revolved around movement, performance, and discipline. But with that dedication came a cost. I encountered countless injuries—sprained ankles, pulled muscles, and chronic tension that often felt debilitating. I spent hours in therapy rooms, going through rehab, fighting to regain strength just so I could step back onto the field. At the time, those moments felt frustrating and exhausting. But without realizing it, those experiences were planting a seed.
Those therapists weren’t just helping me recover physically. They were helping me find balance again—restoring confidence, stability, and connection to my body.
That stayed with me.
When I began studying massage therapy, everything clicked. I realized I wasn’t just learning techniques. I was learning how to help people return to themselves. To help them move better. Feel better. Live better. I had finally found a path where my personal experiences and my purpose aligned.
For the first three years of my career, I dedicated myself fully to learning and growing. Every client taught me something new. Every session refined my skills and deepened my understanding of the human body. But I knew there was more out there for me. I wanted to expand—not just professionally, but personally.
That desire led me to Honolulu.
Moving to Honolulu was more than a change in scenery. It was a leap of faith. I left behind familiarity in pursuit of opportunity, growth, and the unknown. The energy of the island was different. Slower, yet powerful. Grounding, yet inspiring. It was there that everything would come full circle.
It was there that I was introduced to Ashiatsu Deep Bar Therapy.
The moment I experienced Ashiatsu, something awakened in me.
Ashiatsu allowed me to use not only my hands, but my entire body. Suspended from overhead bars, I could apply deeper, more controlled pressure using my feet. It was precise, fluid, and powerful. But more than that—it reconnected me to something personal.
My feet.
As an athlete, my feet had always been my foundation. They carried me across fields, pushed me through injuries, and supported every movement of my journey. Now, they had become a tool for healing others.
There was something deeply symbolic about that.
Balancing on the overhead bars required focus, strength, and trust. It wasn’t just physical balance—it was mental and emotional balance too. Every movement had intention. Every shift required awareness. And through that balance, I was able to create space, release tension, and restore alignment for my clients.
But something else was happening too.
Ashiatsu wasn’t just bringing balance to others—it was bringing balance to me.
For the first time, I felt fully aligned. My past as an athlete, my experiences with injury and rehab, my education, my move to Honolulu, and my discovery of Ashiatsu—all of it connected. Every step, every challenge, every risk had led me here.
It wasn’t random.
It was purpose.
I realized that what I was creating was bigger than just massage sessions. I was creating an experience rooted in restoration, alignment, and connection. A space where people could reconnect with their bodies. Where physical healing could influence mental clarity and emotional well-being.
That realization gave birth to Body Balance.
Body Balance wasn’t just a name. It was a reflection of my journey.
It represented the athlete who once struggled through injuries.
The student who took a chance on a dream.
The professional who sought growth beyond comfort.
The therapist who found a niche in Ashiatsu.
And the individual who discovered balance within themselves.
Body Balance became the embodiment of everything I believed in—the idea that when the body is balanced, the mind and spirit can follow.
What started as a decision ten years ago became a full-circle journey. One that transformed not only my career, but my identity.
Today, every time I step onto the floor and place my hands—or my feet—on a client, I’m reminded of that journey. I’m reminded of the injuries that once held me back, the risks that pushed me forward, and the passion that never left.
Body Balance exists because of that journey.
And it continues to grow with every person it helps return to their own balance.
