Hon. Timothy G. Pagones

The Honorable Timothy G. Pagones passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 63 years old. Born in Beacon, New York, on April 23, 1963, Tim was the son of Felicia (Spinapolice) Pagones and the late Anthony "Babe" Pagones. On May 15, 2005, he married his soulmate, Susan (Antalek) Pagones , who remained faithfully by his side throughout their life together.

A graduate of Ithaca College and Touro Law School, Timothy devoted more than 35 years to the criminal justice system and to serving the people of Dutchess County. He began his career in the early 1990's as a Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office. He later spent 14 years as an associate with the Law Firm of Pagones and Cross, P.C.

Tim also served as a part- time Judge for the City of Beacon before becoming the city's full-time Judge. During his distinguished judicial career, he established the first Opioid/Recovery Court in Dutchess County, created the first Dutchess County Domestic Violence Court, and started the Beacon Drug Treatment Court, which had countywide jurisdiction.

Through his compassion, fairness, and commitment to helping others, Tim touched countless lives. He took tremendous pride in watching participants graduate from his treatment court programs and begin new chapters in their lives, still keeping in touch with many of his participants to offer his encouragement and support whenever it was needed.

Tim was a member of the City of Beacon Fire Department since 1985.

He was a past board member of the Martin Luther King Cultural Center, the Beacon Rotary Club, and in his earlier years volunteered with the Beacon Ambulance Corp.

When Tim wasn't hard at work for the City of Beacon or the DA's office, he was at home enjoying every moment spent with his family or riding his motorcycle with his Renegade Pig Brothers. Tim loved trips to the beach, relaxing in the sun, perfecting his tan, and telling everyone to "take the rest of the day off."

Tim is survived by his loving wife Susan Pagones, and his children: Kati Wilson, Anthony Pagones and his wife Nicoletta, Cory Dubetsky and his wife Amanda, Katina Pagones, and Addy Pagones. Tim also leaves behind his 7 beautiful grandchildren, his mother Felicia Pagones, his father-in-law Frederick Antalek, brother Steven Pagones and his wife Julie, his brother-in-law Frederick Antalek, Jr. and his wife Lorna, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Tim was predeceased by his father, Anthony "Babe" Pagones and mother-in-law, Lee Ann Antalek.

A man of deep and abiding faith, Tim was devoted to his church and drew great strength from his relationship with God. Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, people often asked what they could do for him. His response was simply to take care of themselves.

Even during the darkest moments, Tim found a way to lighten the mood. His quick wit, warmth, and infectious personality made those around him feel comfortable and brought smiles and laughter wherever he went. He would often enter a room whistling and offering fist bumps to start the day. And as he would say, "If I were any better, I would be...."

The family would like to extend its heartful gratitude to the staff at Montefiore St Lukes, especially Dr. Mohmed Elsagga and Nicholas Shannon. They would also like to extend thanks to Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and compassion.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday, September 7, at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, New York. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 8, at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 S. Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

Padma Hiranandani

Padma Hiranandani Reichwald, loving and resilient wife, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on June 2, 1944 in India, to parents Motilbai and Rewachand Hiranandani. She passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026 in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is survived by her loving and ever-devoted husband, Larry Reichwald, her loving brother and sister-in-law, Hiro and Anita, her loving sister-in-law, Ratna and Mohini, her loving nieces Shana, Veera, Vineeta, Lita, Lalita and her loving nephews, Ram, Vivek, Prem, Mohan, Kaveesh and Shan and their children. She's predeceased by her nephew, Monesh, her parents, her brothers, Naru, Vishno, Gul, and Lachman, and her sister, Drupadi. She lived a life shaped by resilience, love, generosity, honesty, and an open heart. She left behind a community of people who were better for knowing her.

Padma's story began in India. She survived polio at five years-old and was also an India-Pakistan partition survivor. She lost both her parents at a young age. Supported by her brothers, Hiro, Naru, Vishno, and Gul, and the blessings from her sister Drupadi, and with her characteristic bravery and determination, she made her way to the United States in 1962, building a full and meaningful life. She met her husband, Larry Reichwald, a talented educator, in Manhattan, NYC and they were married in 1977. They were inseparable for a very happy 49 years. They supported each other until her final moments.

Padma made it through many surgeries due to polio, but she never let her health and physical challenges stop her from thriving in life. She learned to drive, travelled all over the world, and received her BS in Laboratory Technology from SUNY Albany and her Master's Degree in Laboratory Science from C.W. Post College. She embarked on a career in laboratory science, working many years at the Blood Bank at Montefiore Hospital, and later as a Research Scientist for the New York City Department of Health, and as a Blood Bank Manager at Queens Hospital.

She carried that spirit into everything she did. Padma spent more than four decades deeply involved in leadership at Heart and Hand for the Handicapped (HHH), giving her time and energy to an organization that supported differently-abled children in India and the U.S. She served HHH in many leadership roles, including multiple terms as President, and tirelessly championed initiatives that brought hope, mobility, independence, and smiles to countless children. She was an important presence including 3 years as member of Board of Trustees at Hindu Samaj Temple in Wappinger Falls, NY where her warmth and generosity were well known. Padma was also very proud to create Geetmala in 1998, a Bollywood music radio show at the Vassar College radio station, WVKR, that brought her culture and music to the Indian community in Poughkeepsie, NY. The show continues to this day at Vassar.

She loved to celebrate with friends and relatives, and above all, to be with the people she loved most. She will be deeply missed, and in her own words taken from some of her writing she said, "My hope is that I have touched some lives in a meaningful way. I ask for God's blessings. I have no regrets."

The Antyesti, the final rites of passage, will be observed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

Patricia Ann Sakowich

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Patricia Ann Sakowich, 73, died peacefully at her home on August 27, 2026. She was a livelong area resident.

Born on June 26, 1953 in Glenns Falls, NY, Pat was the daughter of the late Louise (Neely) and John Sakowich, Sr. She proudly served in the US Army. Pat retired from Phizon in Rochester, NY after 20 years of service.

She is survived by her siblings, John Sakowich and his wife Patricia of Jamestown, TN and Kathy Slocum of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A graveside service with military honors is being held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 1 pm at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.

Chris Ann Mazzuca

Chris Ann Mazzuca, 64, a resident of Poughquag for 10 years and formerly of Tappan, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2026. She was lovingly known as CHRISSYLICIOUS by all who loved her.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on November 13, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (Sukanytz) Pojafsky. She was raised in Congers. She had a passion for helping others, serving as an Administrative Assistant for Montefiore in Nyack, and an EMT with Congers - Valley Cottage Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Chrissy was a devoted parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. She was a member of the Columbiettes of St. Mary's Council #4065, Knights of Columbus and had the honor of serving as the First Lady of the East Coast Division and New York State Knights on Bikes.

On December 3, 2022 at St. Denis Church, Chrissy married Anthony Mazzuca who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Theresa Burak and her husband Christian; her grandchildren whom she cherished, Addelyn and Noah; her adopted daughter, Jen Aravena; her sister, Alexis Pofjasky; her nieces and nephews, Brad Taylor, Stacey Lustig, Kelsey Pojafsky, Nicole Santiago, Tanya Deliolio, Angela Deliolio and Finn Tracy; her fur babies, Hercules and Apollo; her fur grand baby, Penelope; and many other loving family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Paul Pojafksy; and her fur baby, Snowball.

Gurmeet Singh

Gurmeet Singh, 74, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Poughkeepsie, died on August 27, 2026 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Punjab, India on July 14, 1952, he was the son of Jai Singh and Bachan Kaur. Gurmeet graduated from Pusa Polytechnic in New Delhi, India and had been employed as a Manufacturing Engineer for Putnam Precision in Brewster until his retirement in 2019. He was a member of the Mid-Hudson Sikh Cultural Society.

On October 20, 1985 in New Delhi, India, Gurmeet married Parminder Kaur Saini who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Mandeep Kaur Saini, Sandeep Kaur, and Kamaldeep Singh; his grandchildren, Mila Kaur Singh and Aasha Kaur Singh; and his sister, Gurmeet Kaur Saini.

The Sikh Antam Sanskar and Antim Ardas will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.

James William Profanato

James William Profanato, a Dutchess County resident since 1997, formerly of Yonkers, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Mount Sinai West in Manhattan. He was 52 years old.

Son of the late Joseph and Betty (Higginbotham) Profanato, he was born in Smithfield, NC on May 22, 1974.

Jim owned and operated Profanato Transport, a trucking company which he founded in 2001. He loved coaching football and served as an assistant coach at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, John Jay High School, and youth football. He had a passion for teaching the next generation, not only on the field but off the field as well. He was always there for those who needed him. His players always knew they could count on Coach Prof.

Jim also had a passion for koi fish. He had many ponds in his backyard and loved spending time outdoors tending to and admiring his koi. It was a hobby he cherished for 20 years and one that brought him great joy. Jim was a member of the Tri-State ZNA Koi Club and had many true friendships come from being a part of this club. We know he will be deeply missed. Jim's koi pond in heaven is truly more beautiful than could be imagined.

On April 13, 1997, he married his high-school sweetheart, Suzette Gonzalez, in Yonkers. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children who were the center of Jim's world and his greatest source of pride. After nearly 30 years of marriage, his love for Suzette remained at the heart of the life they created together. Jim was especially excited to become a grandfather, and he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild this November. Suzette survives him at their home in Hopewell Junction, NY.

Additional survivors include his son, Joe Profanato & his wife Amanda; his daughter, Alyssa Profanato & her fiancé A.J. Donofrio; his uncles and aunts, Stephen Klinger, Chris Higginbotham & Joanne McIntyre, and Michael & Celia Higginbotham; his mother-in-law, Annette Spada; as well as many cousins; Anthony, Nicole, & Ella Higginbotham, Michael, Casey, Emma, & Luke Higginbotham, Brittany Higginbotham, Brandon, Mason, and Luca Arce, Christopher Higginbotham, Ryan Klinger and other loving relatives, and countless dear friends whom he considered family.

Jim and Suzette's home was always a gathering place for family and friends. They hosted countless BBQs and holidays, where everyone was welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home. Jimmy lived by the motto, "go big or go home", and anyone who attended one of his gatherings knew he meant it. His family will carry on that tradition, honoring him at every BBQ and holiday for years to come.

Wen Yuan Wang

Wen Yuan Wang passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 with family by his side, at Northwell Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, of a severe lung infection. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, husband, cherished friend, and long-time accomplished engineer.

Born on February 3, 1947 in Shanghai, China, Wen grew up in Taiwan, and graduated from the National Taiwan University Electrical Engineering Department in 1968, bringing great pride to his family. After a year of military service, where he specialized in Army Ordnance on the island of Kinmen (a heavily fortified frontline zone between Taiwan and mainland China at the time), he studied at the University of Cincinnati and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

He and Shirley met in Cincinnati, where they were married on September 25, 1972. He worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer at IBM and Intel.

Wen is survived by his daughters Shawei Wang So and son-in-law Ed So and Shayee Wang and son-in-law Robert Cheng; his granddaughters Kaileen and Kaity So and Alisha and Justine Cheng; his sisters Susan Chen, Wen Huey Wang and Wen Chuan Wang; and nieces and nephews John Chen and Charlene Trapp, Kae Shen and Kevin Chen, and Ray and Candace Lin.

He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Shirley Wang.

Donald Francis Starkey

Donald Francis Starkey, a resident of Cold Spring, formerly of New Windsor and Yonkers, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor. He was 68.

Son of the late Donald G. and Marilyn (Fealy) Starkey, he was born on October 4, 1957. He was raised in Yonkers, where he attended St. Mary's Grade School prior to graduating from Saunders Trade and Technical High School. He later attended Westchester Community College, earning an associate degree in electrical engineering.

Donald dedicated his career to the U.S. Postal Service, having worked at post offices throughout the Hudson Valley, including New City, Milton, Gardiner, and Valley Cottage. At the time of his retirement, he was Postmaster of the Highland Mills Post Office. Don also enjoyed a 50 year part- time career with his good friend, Rick Riddick, with whom he installed steel casement windows.

Don loved being near the Hudson River, where he fished and hiked along its banks. He often said he lived in the most beautiful place in the world. His other hobbies included listening to live music, playing the guitar, genealogy, and cooking. Throughout his life, he enjoyed coaching baseball and football and was known to many as "Coach Don." He was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, but also cheered on some of his other favorite teams , including the New York Giants, New York Rangers, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Raiders, and Hudson Valley Renegades.

A major part of his life, for which he was very grateful, was his 26-year span of sobriety and active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous. Don's dedication to the organization was unparalleled, as he inspired and sponsored countless fellow Friends of Bill W. He was selfless in his service to others and always had his hand out to the newcomer. He will be sorely missed by many friends there.

He is survived by his loving partner, Diane Healy, at home in Cold Spring; his son, Donald Starkey of New Windsor; his sister, Karen Minichino & her husband Frank; his sister, Grace Bruno & her husband Steven; his brother, Vincent Starkey & his wife Lisa; his former wife and dear friend, Linda Lawrance & her husband James Matthews; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless other loving family members and friends. He is also survived by his steadfast sponsor of 26 years, "Canine Kenny." Finally, he leaves behind his well-loved pets, Mila and Tumbles.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved son, Thomas F. Starkey, in 2016, as well as his family's faithful companion, Baron, who passed away just last year. He was also predeceased by his loyal first sponsor, Ray.

Judith Gloria Colamaria

Judith Gloria Colamaria, a Hopewell Junction resident since 1986, formerly of Elmsford, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 74.

Daughter of the late Anthony and Gloria (Minichini) DeFillippo, she was born in Mount Vernon on August 22, 1952. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and later attended the Mandl School for medical and dental assistance in Manhattan.

In addition to working as a dental hygienist, Judith held many other positions throughout her career, including jobs as a hairdresser, administrative assistant, and telemarketing specialist. But of all the roles she held, the one she cherished most was being a devoted mother. Judith took great pride in being a working mom while raising her two children, Marc and Andrea, and her family was always at the center of her life.

Judith was always an active person who consistently pursued many hobbies. She was an avid reader and longtime book club member who enjoyed walking along the Dutchess County Rail Trail and going to the gym. She was also an exceptionally skilled card player and loved sharing that passion with her family. She taught her grandchildren to play rummy, which became a favorite game and a special tradition they shared with their grandmother. She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

On November 19, 1972, she married Nicolas Colamaria at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Vernon. Their love story began years earlier as teenagers growing up in Mount Vernon, and together they built a life and a marriage that spanned more than five decades. Nicolas survives at home in Hopewell Junction.

Additional survivors include her son, Marc Colamaria & his wife Amy of Ridgefield, CT; her daughter, Andrea Ringen & her husband Matthew of Pequannock, NJ; her grandsons, Colin Nash, Nicolas Colamaria, Robert Colamaria, Chase Ringen, and Charlie Ringen; her brother, Louis DeFillippo & his wife Sandra; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

In addition to her parents, Judith was also predeceased by her sister, Lynn Marie Shaughnessy.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 1 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A funeral service will begin at 6:30pm immediately following the visitation.

William Floyd Smelcer

William Floyd Smelcer, a resident of Fishkill since 2003, formerly of Peekskill, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was 77.

Son of the late Floyd and Phyllis (Stocking) Smelcer, he was born in Rochelle, IL on November 3, 1948. In 1968, he enlisted in the US Army and served until he was honorably discharged in 1977. He was the recipient of several recognitions including the National Defense Service and Good Conduct medals. William was proud to have served aboard the MH-1A Sturgis, the army's first floating nuclear power plant, where he received training as a nuclear reactor operator. Following his military service, he dedicated his career as a plant operator for Indian Point Energy Center, retiring in 2000.

On April 23, 1983, he married Hildegard LaSorsa in Peekskill. She survives at home in Fishkill.

In addition to his wife, William is also survived by many loving family members and dear friends.
