Come breathe with me today
Intentional breathing to expand our ribs (where our lungs live) and exhale with imagery to encourage the diaphragm ascension in a slow paced pattern can have a huge impact on everything from pressure dynamics, to nervous system state, to myofascial and neuromuscular synergy in the deep system muscles.
I’m glad the focus has shifted away from cues like “belly breathing” or tensing the belly/pelvic lift with every exhale but encouraging the natural rhythm, amplitude and recoil of the rib cage and translation of forces involuntary through the fascial system
The power of Visual imagery to cause a MSK change:
INHALE ➡️ Starting with practiced breathing to expand ribs 360, circle ⭕️ getting bigger, umbrella 🌂 ➡️☂️ “open and lift” rib bucket 🪣 handles on the inhale
EXHALE ➡️ exhaling 😮💨 to imagine the diaphragm pulled up under the empty 🫁, a parachute 🪂 string pulling up along the spine or the diaphragm plunger 🪠 into ascended position while keeping height in the spine
Try several slow breaths inhale 3 count, exhale 6 count , with practice you will “feel” it very deep and internal FROM THE INSIDE-OUT.
