Want a natural boost for your mood and mental health?
Your brain is constantly producing chemicals that influence how you feel.

The good news? You can support those "feel-good" chemicals through simple, everyday activities.

Sometimes improving our mental health isn't about making huge changes—it's about consistently doing small things that help our brains function at their best.

This weekend, choose one activity that nourishes your mind, body, and spirit.

The questions we repeat become the lens through which we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. When we shift from judgment to curiosity, from criticism to compassion, new possibilities begin to emerge.

Today, pay attention to the questions running through your mind. A single change in perspective may open the door to growth, healing, and hope.

What is one question you can ask yourself today that moves you forward instead of holding you back?

Growth often asks us to sit with discomfort long enough to discover our own strength. And while challenges can leave scars, they can also reveal resilience, courage, and a deeper understanding of who we are becoming.

You do not have to face every obstacle perfectly to heal.

You simply have to keep showing up for yourself, one step at a time.

Healing is not about becoming untouched by life.
It is about learning that even after life’s hardest moments, you can still grow, trust, connect, and move forward.

Finding inner peace doesn’t mean life suddenly becomes quiet.
It means learning how to stay grounded even when life feels loud.

Sometimes it simply looks like taking a deep breath and reminding yourself:
“I do not have to carry everything at once.”

Healing isn’t always dramatic.
Often, it’s the quiet decision to stop fighting yourself.

As professionals, caregivers, leaders, and humans, emotional growth allows us to navigate challenges with greater resilience, compassion, and authenticity.

Give yourself credit for the ways you’ve grown that no one else can see yet.

I am a little late to post, but ’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have spoken at this month’s CI NAWBO meeting on the importance of self-care for women leaders and business owners.

As women, we often carry so much — leading businesses, supporting teams, caring for families, showing up for our communities, and pouring into others every single day. It was an honor to create space together to reflect on the importance of protecting our own well-being while continuing to lead with purpose and passion.

The way we care for ourselves directly impacts how we show up for those around us. I truly appreciate the warm welcome, meaningful conversations, and collective support that makes Central Illinois NAWBOsuch an empowering community of women leaders. I’m thankful to have been part of an evening filled with connection, encouragement, and authenticity.

If you are a woman business owner in any stage of your journey, I encourage you to get connected. There is something powerful about women supporting women. You can be my guest!

Animals have a way of reaching parts of us that words sometimes cannot.

They offer comfort without judgment, consistency without conditions, and connection in moments when we feel isolated or overwhelmed.

Whether it’s the calming presence of a horse, the loyalty of a dog, or simply caring for another living being, animals can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, encourage routine, and remind us we are needed and worthy of connection.

Healing does not always happen in an office. Sometimes healing happens in a barn aisle, on a quiet walk, or with a nose resting gently beside you after a hard day.

Animals may not solve every problem, but they often help people feel safe enough to begin healing.

Sometimes the best therapy has four paws, soft feathers, or a quiet pony’s breath beside you. 🐾🐴🐦
When the world feels too loud, nature and animals remind us how to breathe, rest, and heal. 🌿✨

High-functioning depression is still depression.
Sometimes depression does not look like staying in bed or missing responsibilities.

Sometimes it looks like:
✔️ Going to work
✔️ Taking care of everyone else
✔️ Smiling in public
✔️ Answering texts
✔️ Showing up for commitments
…while silently feeling exhausted, numb, disconnected, or overwhelmed inside.

People with high-functioning depression often hear:
“You seem fine.”
“But you have so much going for you.”
“You’re always so strong.”

What others may not see is the constant emotional effort it takes just to keep moving forward.

Struggling does not have to “look bad enough” to deserve support.
Pain does not become less real simply because someone is functioning.
Checking on the strong ones matters too.

Instead of always saying “I’m fine,” try:
✨ “I’m getting through it.”
✨ “Today has been a little heavy.”
✨ “I’m doing my best right now.”
✨ “I’ve had better days.”
✨ “I’m tired, but hanging in there.”
✨ “I’m overwhelmed and trying to sort things out.”
✨ “I’m still processing things.”
✨ “Honestly, I could use some support.”
✨ “I’m not okay, but I will be.”
✨ “It’s been a challenging week.”

We often say “I’m fine” because it feels easier, safer, or quicker. But sometimes giving ourselves permission to answer honestly can create deeper connection, support, and healing.

You do not have to carry everything alone.
