🧠✨ | Head Lice Awareness
Head lice are tiny bugs that live in the hair and feed on blood from the scalp. They’re very common in children and they are not a sign of being dirty!
🔎 How do lice spread?
• Mostly through head-to-head contact
• Sharing items like hats, brushes, combs, hair ties, headphones, pillows, or helmets
⚠️ Signs to look for:
• Itchy scalp
• A tickling feeling in the hair
• Trouble sleeping
• Small bugs or white eggs (nits) near the scalp
💡 How to check:
Use a bright light and a fine-tooth lice comb. Look closely behind the ears and at the back of the neck, where lice are commonly found.
🧴 Treatment tips:
• Use lice shampoo or medication as directed
• Repeat treatment if recommended
• Comb hair daily for several days to remove lice and eggs
🧺 At home care:
• Wash bedding, hats, towels, and clothing in hot water
• Dry on high heat
👨👩👧 Important:
Check family members and close contacts but only treat those with live lice or eggs near the scalp.
📞 When to call a provider:
• Lice don’t go away after treatment
• Scalp becomes red or infected
• You’re unsure which treatment is safe for your child
👉 Remember: Anyone can get lice, early detection and proper treatment make all the difference!
