Jackson County Emergency Medical Services issued this statement:

In effect from 12pm - 8pm with heat index values of 105 to 109 degrees expected.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside:
- Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing
- Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening
- Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

It saddens 😔 us to hear comments like this from anyone serving our senior citizens.

At Visiting Angels, we believe choosing someone to care for your loved one is one of the most personal decisions a family can make. That’s why we’ve always believed families should have the opportunity to meet their caregiver before services begin.

While every agency has its own approach, we choose to focus on what we know is best for the families we serve. Our complimentary meet-and-greets aren’t just a step in the process—they’re an opportunity to build trust, ensure compatibility, and help everyone feel comfortable from day one.

We don’t believe families should feel like they have to accept the first caregiver assigned to them. We believe they deserve to feel confident in the person who will be coming into their home and caring for someone they love.

For us, home care has always been about more than schedules and staffing. It’s about relationships, dignity, trust, and providing an exceptional client experience. We’ll continue offering meet-and-greets because we’ve seen firsthand the difference they make—for our clients, their families, and our Angels.

Every family deserves to have a voice in their care. ❤️
