I have some customers from Iowa that came to the Clark Fork River Market several years ago. Bought some cottonwood cocoa butter soap and other items. Love my soap so much that they order a loaf every year and other items. I’ve always tucked in a few other goodies. Well they just sent me a box of Iowa goodies 💜. I love when I make that connection with my customers, who come back over and over and trust the quality of my products.

Two more of TacoCats siblings trapped! Hopefully no more as that makes 7! Also trapped an older one from the spring, so about 5-6 months old. And already pregnant! So good chance others are around and need to trap before they have more kittens. Saw the mom cat, a very sleek black one, who’s also probably pregnant. Sigh

So we now know the rest of the TacoCat story!

I was contacted on Monday (as I was taking 7 more kittens to AdvoCats), someone found some little kittens and they heard thru the grapevine I was the one to call. I asked for pics cuz when they say little, want to make sure not taking really young ones.

Tuesday morning I got pics of 2 Siamese and 1 black kitten and I had a hunch. Thought there was one more black one so he stopped by my house for a kitten sized trap. Said he’d drop it off on way to dump and then I knew!!! It was the property right across from where TacoCat was found!

So for some reason shortly after mom had kittens she moved from the shop, across the road to a space going under a shed! A way more protective place. So the kittens weren’t seen until old enough to start moving around. There’s a one-eyed, black mean Tom that hangs around and chases her cats away. He was caught in a trap set for the mom but the person who set it didn’t make sure the back end was secure and he escaped. So now will have to trap him again, tho now it’ll be way harder-he now knows traps.

Yum 😋 Dinner last night. A BLT with fake bacon and tomato gifted from my wonderful market neighbors, Anna and Nicolai and corn from Johnson's Homegrown 💜. And omg, if you love corn 🌽, you need to get yourself down to Clark Fork River Market next Saturday and buy some. It is hands down the best corn on the cob. My only complaint? I only bought 4 ears yesterday!

Freshly cut lavender is needed for making lavender wands, that last years. Just gently squeeze and roll between your palms to release the lovely lavender scent. Great item to keep on your desk at work or in your car when feeling stress. I use French lavender with their long stems.

Still not feeling great but the lavender won’t wait! But can actually see blue sky above even tho the air quality says 161, unhealthy for all. But feels pretty fresh to me.

Sorry supporters for not making market today. When I woke up at 4:15am I just didn’t feel well. Between the heat, smoke and fighting anemia, I just couldn’t make it. I ended up sleeping until 11am! I still have a headache and my brain feels like it’s stuffed with cotton fluff :(. But do plan to do some lavender distilling while it’s still fresh (best for hydrosol). Hopefully the changing the weather will blow this smoke out.
