It was a great time at the NAMI Greater Houston annual walk! Thank you to everyone who came out to walk, run, connect with mental health partners, and support an important cause.

NAMI is a great organization that continues to provide education, advocacy, support, and resources for individuals and families impacted by mental health challenges. Events like this help bring the community together, raise awareness, and remind everyone that support is available.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is proud to had been out there with so many amazing partners and community members. See you all next year!

Our Harris County Sheriff's Office Boarding Home Detail is currently on scene at an illegal boarding home that was operating without the required permit in North Harris County (District 1).

This is a joint response with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office and Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Together, teams are working to address the unsafe and unpermitted operation while ensuring the individuals living there are treated with care and connected to appropriate rehousing resources.

In Harris County, it is illegal to operate a boarding home without a permit. Permits must be obtained through the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

These efforts are about protecting vulnerable residents, promoting safe living conditions, and holding illegal operators accountable.

Come out to Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4 Bayland Park and join the Harris County Sheriff's Office and other agencies for the Disaster Preparedness Expo!

This is a great opportunity for community members and families to learn more about emergency preparedness, available resources, and how we can all work together to stay safe before, during, and after a disaster.

Be sure to stop by and meet the LoneStar LEND team, who are experts in autism education. They’ll be sharing valuable information and resources to help support individuals with autism and their families during emergency situations.

We hope to see you there!

Thank you to Gateway at Ellington community in our Harris County Sheriff's Office District 3 (east/southeast) area for hosting today’s Safety Social!

Our Community Problem Oriented Policing Unit (CPOP) conducted a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessment for the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program and had great conversations with residents, staff, and community members.

These partnerships are an important part of working together to identify concerns, share resources, and create safer spaces for everyone. We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and help strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community.

It’s East Harris County Literacy Week!

Thank you to NorthEast AFT for hosting today’s Juvenile Justice & Literacy event. We had meaningful conversations with law enforcement, educators, and community leaders about the importance of literacy, mentorship, and staying actively involved in the lives of our youth.

When we invest in young people, provide guidance, and create opportunities for positive engagement, we help build safer, stronger communities for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who participated and continues to support programs that empower our youth and families. For more information on the Harris County Sheriff's Office visit www.harriscountyso.org.

As we begin Mental Health Awareness Month, we want our community to know you’re not alone—and support is available before a crisis ever happens. 💚

Through programs like our Harris County Sheriff's Office Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT), specialized mental health and de-escalation training, and ongoing initiatives, we’re committed to better serving those facing mental health challenges.

Local resources include The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD and Harris County Public Health. And as always, you can call or text 988 for immediate support.

We appreciate Priority Consulting for hosting the Compliance Group Home Seminar and bringing together professionals committed to improving standards of care in our community.

Our Harris County Sheriff's Office Boarding Home Detail, alongside our state partners at Texas Health and Human Services Commission and Houston Police Department, had the opportunity to present on important topics including permitting requirements, as well as how to recognize and report abuse, neglect, and exploitation. These conversations are critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of some of our most vulnerable residents.

Collaboration like this helps strengthen awareness, accountability, and compliance across group homes. Thank you to everyone who attended and continues to play a role in protecting our community.

Our Harris County Sheriff's Office Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) plays a vital role in keeping our community safe by working alongside the Harris County Flood Control District to address sensitive situations involving individuals experiencing homelessness—especially in high-risk flooding areas.

Recently, HOT responded to a location where rising water levels created a dangerous environment. Through a coordinated and compassionate approach, team members were able to connect with those in the area, provide critical resources, and safely relocate individuals out of harm’s way.

These efforts go beyond enforcement—they’re about building trust, ensuring safety, and offering pathways to support services. We’re proud of the work our HOT members continue to do every day to protect lives and strengthen our community, especially in challenging and potentially life-threatening conditions.

Did you know our Harris County Sheriff's Office Community Problem Oriented Policing Unit actively uses Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies to help create safer spaces for our community?

By assessing environments and identifying ways to reduce opportunities for crime, our team works hand-in-hand with businesses and residents to improve safety through smart design and proactive solutions.

Recently, Target requested our assistance, and we were proud to collaborate with them to enhance safety measures at their location. Partnerships like these are key to building stronger, safer communities for everyone.
