Loneliness isn’t always about being alone. It can appear in a life full of people and conversations, especially if the connection to your inner world has gone quiet.

For a lot of folks, tuning into others became the default. The room gets read instantly, everyone’s mood gets tracked, and showing up becomes automatic. But while all that attentiveness keeps the peace, it slowly pulls you away from yourself.

That kind of disconnection is its own form of isolation. Rebuilding that connection isn’t selfish. It is the only way to be close to others without losing yourself in the process.

There’s a conversation happening in America about mental health, but it’s often happening in a vacuum. We’re told to manage our stress, as if the sources of that stress aren’t staring us in the face in every headline and tabloid all over the world right now.

The stress is the 400,000+ layoffs. The anxiety is the cut to SNAP benefits. The despair is the choice between rent and healthcare. The isolation is the seasonal depression amplified by a culture of consumerism we can’t afford to participate in.

This isn’t just a bad season or moment in time. For many, it has always been and continues to be a systemic breakdown. And in that context, “healing” can feel like a privileged concept, accessible only to those whose basic needs are already securely met.

This is for everyone who feels like they’re drowning in the gap between the American dream and the American reality. Your struggle is not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that the systems meant to support us are failing. Historically speaking, they were never built for us to begin with. I’m working to see what I can do to help out my community. In the meantime, I just want to acknowledge reality.

Sometimes we don’t recognize emotional abuse because it doesn’t look like what we see in movies. It’s subtle, gradual, and often disguised as just how relationships are.
But punishment has no place in love. If you’re walking on eggshells, questioning your sanity, or feeling like you have to earn basic respect…that’s not normal relationship problems. That’s emotional abuse.
You deserve relationships that feel safe, not scary. Let’s work together to help you recognize the difference.

This license cost me more than just hours on paper. It took years of hard work through classes, supervision, clients, and just to add some of the jobs that drained me, all while living my own life. I’ve sat in parking lots wondering if I was even cut out for this. I’ve pulled myself through nights of studying, through setbacks that made me question if it was even worth it, through exhaustion and loneliness that made me want to walk away.

It was not fun. It wasn’t some straight line of confidence and success. It was messy. It was lonely a lot of the times. And it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

But here I am. Licensed Professional Counselor. 🥳Not because I was lucky, not because it all lined up perfectly, but because I refused to stop. Because even when I was doubting myself, I kept showing up.

So this celebration…it’s not just about a title. It’s about every tear, every late night, every “I can’t do this anymore” that I still pushed through. It’s about making it to the other side of something I thought might break me.

From a student to now a licensed baddie. Of course I wouldn’t be here without my support team. This is our win. 🙌🏾🎉

Recognizing unhealthy patterns in relationships is the first step to protecting your well-being. These behaviors might seem small at first, but they can really impact your mental health over time.
Trust your gut when something doesn’t feel right. You deserve relationships that lift you up, not tear you down 💙

Remember: setting boundaries isn’t selfish, it’s necessary ✨
