Magnesium is one of the main elements that maintain the health of the bones. It has a role in regulating blood pressure, heartbeat, and metabolism. Abnormal magnesium levels are associated with several diseases that affect the kidney, intestine, and cardiovascular health. Excess secretion of magnesium in the blood is a sign of kidney malfunction too. Intestine and digestive system problems and smoking could adversely affect magnesium absorption. Moreover, low magnesium levels suggest the possibility of low potassium and calcium levels too.
Only 1% magnesium is present in the blood. Moreover, in case of low magnesium, the body starts to extract magnesium from the bones, making them weak. So, the results of the magnesium test only help in the diagnosis, along with other tests. This test is often prescribed to the patients suffering from diarrhea, diabetes, gastro-intestinal and kidney disease. Certain medications may also affect magnesium levels. Magnesium deficiency is associated with diabetes, insulin resistance, osteoporosis, and certain cancers.
Zinc and vitamin D supplements are used to increase magnesium levels.

"b-HCG is a hormone that forms during pregnancy. Cells in the developing placenta produce this hormone. b-HCG test finds out any abnormality in the foetus and it is also used to confirm a pregnancy. However, it may take time for the HCG levels to increase after pregnancy, so a negative result in the test does not always preclude the possibility of pregnancy. If there is a high possibility of pregnancy, then the b-HCG test takes place twice in a week. This test also diagnoses ectopic pregnancy in which the egg stays in the fallopian tubes, instead of the womb. Moreover, this test monitors the patient’s health and treatment after a miscarriage. This hormone gets particularly low after a miscarriage.
Certain diseases also increase the HCG levels. For instance, tumours secrete HCG, so high HCG levels can be a sign of ovarian cancer, uterus cancer, and lung cancer. Other diseases associated with HCG are cirrhosis, inflammatory bowel syndrome, and ulcers. So, this test functions with other tests to diagnose diseases. For instance, it is used in the diagnosis of testicular cancer, along with other tests. High HCG levels indicate a risk of miscarriage, molar pregnancy, or multiple pregnancy too. Still, habits such as ma*****na use can increase the HCG levels.
There is not always a risk to the developing foetus, if the HCG count measures low. Abnormalities such as proteinuria and haematuria can cause false positives in the results of the b-HCG test.

The purpose of the DHEA-S test is to detect the level of DHEA-S in the blood semen. DHEA-S is a male hormone, so the excess of this hormone is harmful for women. DHEA is a useful chemical in the body, and it serves to synthesize hormones in men and women. It stimulates the synthesis of testosterone in men and estrogen in women. Adrenal glands synthesize the DHEA chemical, and its cortex region is the part involved in the process. Pituitary gland has a vital role in the secretion of DHEA-S as it releases a hormone that stimulates the adrenal cortex to synthesize DHEA-S. This means, low DHEA-S can be an effect of any problem associated with the adrenal gland or the pituitary gland. Adrenal glands’ malfunction causes reduced release of the cortisol hormone which manages stress, and the patient starts to experience stress. There can be several reasons for abnormal DHEA-S levels. DHEA-S levels may increase due to stress, and certain medications. In women and children, excess DHEA-S may lead to increase in body hair. In women, increased DHEA-S levels are also found to be associated with the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Moreover, high DHEA-S count also shows in cancer and Cushing's disease. Low DHEA-S is associated with other frequent diseases such as diabetes, Addison’s disease, dementia, AIDS, cardiovascular health, Lupus, and dementia. The quantity of this hormone decreases with age.

Zinc is one of the essential elements for health. It has a primary role in maintaining the health of the central nervous system (CNS) and the brain. Zinc deficiency can significantly affect the functioning of the brain, causing diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, neurological apoptosis and Wilson’s disease in the brain. Moreover, zinc deficiency can accelerate aging, cause sickle cell anaemia, kidney, and liver disease. Pregnant women require more zinc, and a deficiency of this nutrient causes growth retardation. Excess of zinc can also get harmful for health, and it causes headaches, migraine, and nausea.
