Today, Harris Health and UTHealth Houston came together at Harris Health Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital for the annual Research and Quality Improvement Day, a symposium celebrating innovative research and collaborative efforts to improve patient care. The event featured research presentations, poster discussions and recognition of outstanding projects addressing real-world healthcare challenges. Among the award-winning projects were initiatives to improve operating room efficiency through coordinated workflows, enhance the management of traumatic brain injuries at hospitals without onsite neurosurgery, and develop culturally adapted decision-making tools for lung cancer screening. Harris Health Board of Trustees Chair Andrea Caracostis, MD, MPH, and McGovern Medical School Dean LaTanya Love, MD, joined healthcare leaders, researchers and frontline professionals in recognizing these important contributions.
Congratulations to all our presenters and award winners! Your work demonstrates how research, innovation and teamwork can advance patient safety, improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the care we provide to Harris County.
