Einstein spent decades calling this "spooky action at a distance," convinced it couldn't possibly be real. In 2019, a team in Scotland photographed it anyway.

This fuzzy grey image comes from physicists at the University of Glasgow, led by Dr. Paul-Antoine Moreau, and it captures Bell entanglement, a particularly strong form of quantum entanglement where two particles interact and end up sharing physical states, no matter how far apart they later travel. To catch it, the team built a source that fired streams of entangled photon pairs through liquid crystal materials designed to shift the phase of the light, then rigged an ultra-sensitive camera to only snap a frame when it detected both a photon and its entangled twin arriving together. That single condition, both particles or nothing, is what turned an invisible quantum relationship into an actual photograph.

The process itself was brutal. The setup ran at negative 30 degrees Celsius in complete darkness, capturing 40,000 frames per second, and researchers had to comb through thousands of frames just to isolate the ones showing genuine entanglement in action. What looks like one simple photo is technically a composite built from four separate images, each showing the entangled photons passing through a different phase transition.

Picture trying to photograph two coins that always land on opposite faces no matter how far apart you flip them, and only being allowed to snap the picture the instant both coins are mid-air at once.

The result did more than settle an old philosophical argument. Researchers say the imaging technique itself could push forward quantum computing and open entirely new methods for capturing images using entangled light.

Does seeing something this strange actually photographed make quantum entanglement feel more real to you, or does it stay just as hard to wrap your head around?

WE ARE FALLING INTO A HOLE.
:
You've heard of the Great Attractor, the mysterious gravitational monster pulling our entire region of the cosmos toward a specific point. But what if the news is far weirder? Cosmologists are investigating a viral hypothesis that the Great Attractor isn't there. In a shocking conceptual loop, new research suggests we might not be pulled by a massive cluster but pushed by an immense, perfectly spherical, terrifying nothingness right next door: the Local Void (visualized in this 3D mapping as an immense spherical boundary of profound blackness, with galaxy filaments visibly compressed away from it). The theory states that this void, empty and barren, is growing, pushing all matter—including us and Laniakea—away, creating the illusion of a single destination. We are literally on a cosmic conveyer belt being shoved into a gravitational sinkhole generated by absolute emptiness. Redefining how gravity shapes the universe. Where are we really headed?
