In 1947, The Center for Hearing and Speech was founded by four parents on a bold dream that deaf children could learn to listen and speak, enabling them to communicate with their families and the community. Today, the nationally renowned Texas Hearing Institute, formerly known as The Center for Hearing and Speech, serves as the most comprehensive resource for pediatric hearing loss in Texas and the only facility in the region to offer health and spoken language education for hearing-impaired children under one roof.

For the last week of Audiology Awareness Month, we are highlighting some of the sensory-friendly updates made in our audiology spaces designed to help children feel more comfortable, calm, and supported during their visit.

The addition of dimmer switches, calming blue lighting, sensory wall displays and hands-on sensory toys help create a more welcoming environment for children with sensory needs. For many kids, a clinic setting can feel unfamiliar or overwhelming. These tools help make the space feel safer, more engaging, and more at home.

🤟 Connecting Through Language: Exploring ASL & Family Supports

Texas Hearing Institute is partnering with the Statewide Outreach Center at Texas School for the Deaf and Texas Hands & Voices for a welcoming conversation about American Sign Language and resources available to families of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Families will hear from professionals, a Deaf/Hard of Hearing adult, and a parent about ASL, visual language, language choices, family support, and available programs and resources.

A great event deserves great food, and we have Thomas Oilfield Services to thank for keeping everyone fueled up at our 15th Annual Los Juegos de la Paloma Clay Shoot!

Thomas Oilfield Services generously donated the food and food services for this year's event, helping make the day an incredible experience for our shooters, sponsors, volunteers, and guests.

Their generosity helped us bring our community together for a day of friendly competition and fundraising, contributing to an event that raised more than $210,000 to support children with hearing loss and their families!
