One of my favorite parts of being a speech-language pathologist is celebrating the moments that many people never see—the extra practice, the determination, the small victories that lead to big accomplishments.

Progress isn't always measured by how quickly a child reaches a goal. Sometimes it's found in the courage to keep trying, one step at a time.

That's why I love what Jack Hartmann is doing with this project. If your child has overcome a challenge, learned a new skill, or simply shown incredible perseverance, I'd encourage you to consider submitting a photo or video. Every child deserves to have their hard work celebrated.

There's something about the start of a new school year that always brings a mix of excitement, stress, and a little anxiety—for both kids and parents.

As a speech-language pathologist, one of the things I've always done to help the families I work with is find ways to make that transition a little smoother. Whether it's helping parents better understand their child's educational plan or giving teachers a chance to get to know the child behind the paperwork, a little preparation can make a big difference.

That's what inspired me to create these two back-to-school resources: a personalized ARD/IEP Review and a Student Biography. They're available individually or together in the Be More Than Ready Package through August 15.
