On September 5, Celeste Harris, LMSW, Director of Social Services, celebrates her 20th anniversary with Houston Area Parkinson Society. In her own words: Some of you might be aware that I was placed at Houston Area Parkinson Society as an intern with University of Houston's Graduate College of Social Work way back in 2005. This was a random assignment because I indicated an interest in healthcare social work. I could not have imagined that checking a box would define the course of my life. I have travelled the world with HAPS; I have danced with prima ballerinas; I have painted with accomplished art professors; I have chatted with world renowned neurologists; I have presented information on a global stage.. But none of that compares to what I want to do the most: work here, in Houston, with my friends whom I love in the Parkinson's community - attending your appointments with physicians, facilitating your support groups to provide assistance, visiting your homes to learn more about you, exercising alongside you, reading books with you, and living life with you. Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we cry. But every day I am so grateful that happenstance led to me you.

Thank you for your dedication to Houston's Parkinson's community, Celeste.
