Let’s talk about sleep 🤎

Melatonin is often treated like a general sleep aid, but it may not address the actual reason you’re having difficulty sleeping. Timing, dosage, other medications, health conditions, and the type of sleep difficulty you’re experiencing can all matter.

Taking more isn’t always the answer—and “over the counter” doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right option for everyone.

If sleep concerns continue despite what you’ve tried, it may be time to look at the bigger picture. Sleep is one of the areas we explore as part of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation.

Virtual psychiatric appointments are available throughout Texas. Appointment information is available through the link in our bio.

We are dedicated to being your mental wellness partner!

Hello, September. 🤎

Take it one day—and one moment—at a time.

Let’s talk about sleep 🤎

Why can’t I sleep?

Sometimes, the answer is not just one thing. Stress, anxiety, changes in mood, an inconsistent sleep schedule, caffeine, alcohol, certain medications, hormonal changes, pain, and other health conditions can all affect sleep.

Sleep disorders—such as sleep apnea or restless legs syndrome—may also make it difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep, or wake up feeling rested.

When sleep problems continue, it may be worth looking beyond bedtime habits. Understanding what is contributing to the problem is an important part of finding the right treatment.

Because better sleep starts with identifying what is keeping you awake.

We are dedicated to being your mental wellness partner!

Let’s talk about sleep 🤎

When you say you can’t sleep… what do you mean?

Not all sleep difficulties look the same.

Trouble falling asleep: You’re tired, you’re in bed, but sleep just isn’t happening.

Trouble staying asleep: You fall asleep, but find yourself waking up throughout the night.

Waking too early: You wake earlier than you intended and have trouble getting back to sleep.

Non-restorative sleep: You slept, maybe even for several hours, but you wake up feeling like you barely rested.

These details matter. Understanding how your sleep is being disrupted can help us better understand what may be contributing to the problem—and what may actually help.

Because “I can’t sleep” is just the beginning of the conversation.

Let’s talk about sleep. 🤎

Insomnia is more than simply not being able to fall asleep.

It can look like lying awake for what feels like forever, waking up repeatedly throughout the night, waking earlier than you intended, or getting enough hours of sleep but still feeling like your sleep wasn’t restorative.

And an occasional bad night of sleep doesn’t necessarily mean you have insomnia.

When sleep difficulties become persistent and start affecting how you feel or function during the day, it may be time to take a closer look at what’s going on.

Sleep and mental health are closely connected—and there’s a lot more to the conversation than “just go to bed earlier.”

Over the next few posts, we’ll break down insomnia, what can contribute to it, habits that may be making sleep harder, and what treatment can actually look like.

Because sleep deserves more than an afterthought.

Mental health care doesn’t always fit neatly into a Monday–Friday schedule.

For some people, Saturday is simply easier — fewer work conflicts, less rushing, or a little more space to prioritize their mental health.

We believe access to care should have some flexibility, which is why we've intentionally made Saturday availability a part of the Path of Serenity
experience!

✨ Select Saturdays are available by appointment.

If a Saturday works better for you, let’s make it work. Visit the link in our bio to view our most up-to-date availability.

🧠 Feeling tired, foggy, or like your brain just isn’t working the way it used to?
Vitamin B12 plays an important role in overall functioning, including:

✨ Energy production
✨ Healthy nerve function
✨ Brain health and cognition
✨ Red blood cell production
✨ Mood regulation

Many people are familiar with the word “normal” when looking at lab results, but there is a difference between a level being within the reference range and a level that may be optimal for your body’s needs.

B12 insufficiency can sometimes contribute to symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, numbness/tingling, or difficulty concentrating—even when symptoms seem unrelated.
This doesn’t mean everyone needs a B12 supplement. It means understanding your labs in the context of your symptoms, health history, and overall picture matters.

At Path of Serenity, we look beyond a single number and consider the whole person—because your mental health is connected to your physical health too. 🧠✨
