So I did it. After 17 years of being a speech language pathologist, I’m officially a private practice owner of Texas Speech Mom Therapy Services PLLC 🥳😭. This mama now owns two businesses according to the state of Texas and I’m feeling pretty proud of that!

I have been providing services to the preschool-k population (3-5yr) in homes and local preschools in the Katy area but have relocated back to Houston! My passion will always be directed to helping other SLPs through product creation and continuing education so TSM isn’t going anywhere! This just feels like the best of all worlds. One day I’ll sleep. 😂

If you’re interested, I’d love for you to follow and on instagram as I start this new adventure! Website is currently being updated since relocating from Katy to Houston! Please email [email protected] for inquiries.

It’s been 3 years since “Texas Speech Mom, LLC” went live!! Women are often expected to downplay their accomplishments. Moms are expected to just have “side gigs” instead of businesses. Well... I think that’s lame. This “side gig” has provided incredible opportunities for myself and financial freedom for my family. I feel so fortunate that I get to create products, present on topics that I’m passionate about, and connect with others all around the world! That is all because of YOU! Thank you for supporting me over the years, but especially this year. It’s been tough and I’ve dealt with a lot of creators block. YOU all still stand in my corner and push this growing business. So.... since it’s a tradition, I want to look back at this post and see what I managed to do:
🖤 Presented at Texas Speech-Language & Hearing Association Convention with . We filled 500+ seats! 🙌🏻
🖤 A pandemic shut the world down. Working from home (when everyone else was home) was an incredibly difficult task but still managed to successfully create products that I believe in. TSM still grew 64% in sales! (Thanks dad for always crunching numbers!) 🥳
🖤 Presented at my first virtual conference in front of 1,800 viewers! 😳
🖤 A total of 35,000 transactions in all 50 states and 16+ countries have gone through this little corner of the internet. I’m forever humbled 😭
🖤 Found 34k supporters on Instagram that are fierce! When I launch, y’all show up and I’ll never be able to thank you enough. 😘
-
So, I’m not sharing all of this to brag but to encourage you to go for that dream. You can build something that is YOURS.... and you should celebrate all of your accomplishments. Even if it happens to be a crummy year- there’s always something to celebrate!
-
To celebrate..... let’s have a sale. TSM is on sale today to celebrate the big THREE! Shoptexasspeechmom.com

I’m so proud of every single supporter of TSM. It was truly so heartwarming to see everyone share and rally over on Instagram. Thanks to all of your support, “Texas Speech Mom, LLC” was able to raise $1,016 in 24hrs. I’ve made the donation to on behalf of everyone that helped make that possible. There are MILLIONS of children that need help. I know I can’t save all of them, but I’m proud to support because I know he won’t give up. I am in awe of everyone involved with Operation Underground Railroad and continue to pray for the men and woman putting their lives on the line in order to rescue the children. (Link in comments)

Real talk: I’m a fixer. If I see a problem, I become laser focused on figuring out how to fix it. This is probably why 2020 has been such a struggle for me. We’ve been faced head on with major, life changing, learning experiences (that have been going on for centuries) and I am not physically able to “fix” any of them. I can’t make the virus go away. I can’t make racism disappear. I can’t save every child. So where do we go from here? Educating ourselves is huge. Speaking out and bringing awareness is huge. Donating to organizations that have the ability to physically make a difference is huge. Volunteering is huge. However- NEVER let someone tell you that what you’re doing is not enough. If you can’t volunteer- that’s ok. If you don’t have the funds to donate- that’s ok. All that matters is that you consciously make the decision to stay aware, continue to learn, and SPEAK OUT. Focus on what YOU are doing to become a better human in this broken world. It’s better than nothing.
-
The work doesn’t stop here. I will continue to learn and share ways to give back. It’s not going to fix all of the problems in the world, but it’s “all the good that I can do”.

Every single social media platform is flooded with the stress of back to school. Today, I’m taking a moment to consciously remind myself that it is a BLESSING to have that stress. It is a privilege to get the opportunity to figure out a safe option for my child. It is a privilege to go to sleep at night knowing exactly where my child is sleeping. It is a privilege to look at my daughter and know that her biggest concern is if the rain will stop so she can go swimming.
-
This isn’t the case for MILLIONS of other people. Yes, MILLIONS.
-
Today is and I am consciously making the effort to educate, spread awareness, and donate.

My store is on sale and 100% of today’s earnings will be donated to . Please take a moment to follow that account and see what this organization is about.

That’s a wrap on my first “virtual presentation”! I have to admit, my stomach dropped when I glanced over and saw around 1,400 people watching live. 😳 Sharing therapy ideas and advice with so many speech language pathologists is a true passion of mine.
-
I’m truly so grateful for everyone that supports me and this crazy thing called “Texas Speech Mom”. I saw you in that chat room and I see you on this platform. Thank you for letting me do what I love!
-
It’s time to celebrate! My store will be 20% for the rest of the weekend. 😘

2020 is trying REALLY hard to ruin anything fun, but my brain is still ticking away. So... here’s a therapy hack that might work for you! (Disclaimer: I know everyone’s state is different regarding what will happen in the schools, what stores are open, what you’re able to do, etc. I’m just giving this my best shot and trying to stay positive.) ✌🏼💙🦈

Introducing the 2020 version of my “feeding the shark” activity. Last year I used a soft slipper (see in comments). This year I’m going to try to use this plastic arm floatie! It was at the dollar tree but I’m sure you could get creative with any arm floaties! Laminate those therapy cards and now you have an interactive activity that is easy to be sprayed/wiped down!
-
You can really get crazy and put your shark on one side of your (most likely tiny room) and have the child focus on their target, then get up and feed the shark. (Movement is key).
-
Or... let them hold Mr. Shark and practice those present progressive verbs (swimming in the room, hiding behind a chair, eating invisible seaweed)!
-
Again. I know times are tough. Letting my brain at least attempt to think creatively in this new environment is the only thing that seems manageable right now!
-
So... what do you think? Should I keep sharing ideas like this? (I keep forgetting to post on Facebook- more ideas are found on my Instagram )
