Houston Metro Urology was founded in 2006 as the result of a merger of several established practices in and around the city of Houston. Since the merger, Houston Metro Urology has grown to include Urologists, Radiation Oncologists, Pathologists, and Radiologists who collaborate across multiple locations to provide comprehensive care for men and women who are experiencing genitourinary conditions a

nd have concerns about their sexual health. In 2006, the practice opened a radiation therapy center for prostate cancer patients. The center, treating several hundred prostate cancer patients yearly, is well known for its advanced technology and state of the art cancer treatment. In addition, HMU provides the entire spectrum of urologic services.

Meet Our Team | Rita Tibbs, MD, FCAP, FASCP

Before joining Houston Metro Urology, Dr. Tibbs specialized in genitourinary pathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she completed her fellowship after finishing her pathology residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She earned her medical degree from St. Louis University in the Philippines and is board-certified in anatomic pathology with specialized training in diagnosing bladder, prostate, and testicular cancers.

Dr. Tibbs plays a vital role in every patient's care. She collaborates closely with our physicians to provide accurate laboratory diagnoses that help guide personalized treatment plans and support the best possible outcomes.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, taking peaceful nature walks, and spending quality time with her daughter.
