Students who participate will learn directly from HL7 International, build one working FHIR application each semester, explore the responsible use of AI, and connect with professionals shaping the future of healthcare interoperability.

Access to specialized healthcare shouldn't depend on where you live. Technology could help close that gap.

As a Doctor of Health Informatics student at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston, Asha Poulose Johnson is studying how tools such as smartphone-based screenings, AI, and medical devices can help bring earlier diagnosis and better care to communities where specialists are scarce.

With support from the James Turley Endowed Scholarship for Global Health, she's building on her experience to explore solutions designed to reach more people.
