🚨 Hot off the press! We’re pleased to share the first report of melanomas harboring RARA fusions, adding to the growing evidence that gene fusions can occur in bona fide melanomas of non-Spitz lineage.

Our observations reinforce the notion, previously documented in multiple studies, that the presence of a gene fusion does not necessarily indicate Spitz lineage in a melanocytic neoplasm.

🚨 Hot off the press! My new book chapter on the family of heavily pigmented melanocytic neoplasms is now available online through Springer Nature. This chapter provides a broad overview of melanocytic tumors within the blue nevus family, including recently characterized PKC-fused melanocytic neoplasms, as well as WNT-activated deep penetrating/plexiform melanocytomas and pigmented epithelioid melanocytomas. Notably, the latter two entities are characterized by two-step, phenotype-defining molecular alterations. πŸ˜†πŸ”¬πŸ§¬
