Did you know this award-winning image (CAP 2016 or 2017?), now widely used online for free, was actually taken by me in 2015, when I was a resident? It came from an autopsy case of Churg-Strauss syndrome involving the lungs, featuring a striking heart-shaped vessel. 😆🔬🎨

Pathologists normally dislike tangential sectioning or improper embedding of fixed tissue, but this is an exception. 😆🔬🎨

The beauty of tangential sectioning in this skin lesion, and more importantly, the fact that it’s benign! 🤣

🚨 Hot off the press! We’re pleased to share the first report of melanomas harboring RARA fusions, adding to the growing evidence that gene fusions can occur in bona fide melanomas of non-Spitz lineage.

Our observations reinforce the notion, previously documented in multiple studies, that the presence of a gene fusion does not necessarily indicate Spitz lineage in a melanocytic neoplasm.

A 40-year-old woman presented with a 1-month of history of fevers and 3-week history of swelling in her right armpit. Ultrasonography showed enlarged lymph nodes with an adjacent fluid collection.
