This month, we’re pairing Hip Flexor Stretches with the Supine Knee Across Chest. The Hip Flexor addresses the front part of the hip, which frequently tightens in OA patients. The Supine stretch addresses the back of the hip, providing relief to both areas.

When doing the Hip Flexor Stretch, kneel on the floor with one knee on the ground, leg behind you, while keeping the leg in front bent at a 90-degree angle. Foot flat on the floor. Keep an upright posture. Put your hand on the knee in front of you, gently push down, and lean forward until a stretch is felt, holding for up to 30 seconds.

For the Supine Stretch Across Chest, lie down on your back, with your legs fully extended. Grab behind the knee and pull the knee across to the opposite shoulder until a stretch is felt. Make sure your back and shoulders remain low to the ground, and the non-stretched leg remains straight. Hold for up to 30 seconds.

For each stretch, repeat with the other side.
