Okay, let’s talk about this.

Babies don’t all crawl the same way, and a different crawling style doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong.

Some babies army crawl, some scoot on their bottoms, some crawl with one foot planted, and some find their own creative way to get from point A to point B.

But if your baby consistently uses one side more than the other, always pulls with the same arm, pushes mostly with one leg, or avoids putting weight through one side… that’s when I want you to look a little closer 🚩

Because the important part isn’t whether their crawl looks different- it’s whether there’s a consistent pattern underneath it.

And it’s not because their crawl needs to look “perfect”, but because how they move can give us clues about how they’re coordinating both sides of their body.

Babies are really creative and pretty good at finding a way to get where they want to go 😂

Sometimes that’s just their unique way of moving.
Other times, it can be a way of compensating when one movement doesn’t feel as easy.

That’s why when I assess a baby, I’m not just checking whether they’ve reached the milestone. I’m also paying attention to how they’re getting there.

If you’ve noticed your baby has a particularly wonky crawl… don’t panic.

Come see me and let me take a deeper look 🤍

Baby Olivia is getting ready to crawl!

But before she starts crawling on all fours, there’s a lot of learning happening first.

Right now she is still doing the army crawl, but it’s good to see her using both sides of her body and both legs.

While she builds the strength and coordination she needs for crawling, one way we can practice is by gently supporting her hips and rocking her back and forth while she’s on her hands and knees.

Don’t force it… give your little one plenty of opportunities to play on the floor, explore, reach for their favorite toys, and practice getting into different positions.

Crawling is a process, not a race 🤍

I got you, mama!

You don’t have to worry about finding a babysitter or waiting until your partner is home and keep putting off your appointment because you have the kids with you.

At my office, the whole crew is welcome! 🤍

Mom can get adjusted, baby can get adjusted, and the older kiddos can get adjusted or maybe hang out and play while we’re taking care of each one of you.

Because I know that taking care of yourself doesn’t always happen in a quiet room with a babysitter waiting at home. Sometimes… it looks like this! :)

A little adjusting, a little playing, and the whole family coming along for the ride.

So if childcare is the only thing stopping you from booking your appointment, just bring them with you! 🫶

Meet baby Enzo! 🥹🤍

I had the pleasure of caring for mama Alexis throughout her pregnancy, and I get to meet and care for her sweet baby too!

Enzo is doing amazing, and here I’m just checking in on how his little body is moving, adapting, and developing during his baby assessment.

I’m also checking to see if there’s any tension or tightness that I can help him with as part of his pediatric chiropractic care.

It’s such an honor to be part of your family’s journey, Alexis! 🫶

This is moxibustion- also known as moxa, I call it Asian incense.

Technically, it is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that uses a dried herb called mugwort to create gentle heat near specific acupuncture points.

So what does it do?

The heat from the burning moxa is used to stimulate specific acupuncture points. One of the ways I may use moxibustion during pregnancy is to stimulate a specific point when a baby is in a breech position.

Moxa can also be used at other acupuncture points for different purposes, including supporting relaxation and stress management.

It’s a technique I may incorporate into care when I feel it’s appropriate for you.

If you have any questions about this or are interested in trying it, you’re always welcome at the office 🤍
