The Institute of Cosmetology & Esthetics opened in 1984 to a Spa industry that was just starting to grow rapidly, creating a huge demand for estheticians and cosmetologists in spas and beauty salons across the country. In response, beauty schools seemingly popped up out of nowhere and started trading licenses for students' money, instead of passing on any knowledge or skills required for a career
in the industry. Amidst all of this, IC&E started modestly, with 6 students and 2 instructors, but dedicated to world class education in the spa and beauty industry. Rather than just teaching students to pass the certification test, the commitment IC&E makes to all of the students who attend is that they will receive the absolute highest quality of education available and that they will be given every opportunity and preparation for a successful, professional career in the Spa and Beauty industry. That dedication to excellence and our commitment to every student's future career are the reasons why IC&E has been a fixture in the Houston Area Spa Scene for over 30 wonderful years and why we are able to say many things that other institutes cannot: IC&E is the first Internationally Accredited CIDESCO School in the United States, allowing students the opportunity to earn the highest certification in the world for cosmetologists and estheticians; we are the only school in the nation with three International Examiners for the CIDESCO Exam teaching our students everyday- providing every one of them with the highest quality of personal training and the knowledge and experiences of the most qualified people in the world.
